Big Brake Kits for Race Car

Postby dcarusillo on Sat Jan 13, 2018 4:52 pm

Hola and Happy 2018. Any one have experience with an aftermarket (Brembo, Stoptech etc..) brake kit on a narrow body, aircooled 911 running 17 inch wheels?

Hey Dano how you doin? I have not done this myself but a lotta fast guys around the country in that era of cars are running Boxster brakes. Simple bolt-on solution, fit under 17" wheels, parts are readily available and reasonable, and they add a lot of heat management capability to your ride. Maybe run that idea past your local aircooled gurus and see if it is a good fit for you.

Cheers :beerchug:

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up with a set of used 930 calipers. The rears required a little machine work. See you at Chucky!

If you are going to use the 930 drilled rotors make sure you get enough cooling air to the rotors or you risk cracks between the holes. But with your lap times you probably don't brake that often/hard!

Richard,
good advice and I have taken it. Improved cooling at all 4 corners. Went with 2 piece slotted in front, stock cross drilled in rear. For any one else who is following this, yellow pagid front and black in the rear. We will see how the bias is....

By two piece do you mean one piece slotted rotor plus the interface hat to a stock 911 hub a la Rebel Racing?
