Tire choice

Postby richard on Tue Jun 14, 2005 12:59 pm

I know this is a big topic. But better to ask advice before I buy.

I'm looking for rear tires on a 1984 Turbo Look. Rims are 10 X 17. Present tires are 255/40-17. Tire Rack reviews help but .. I'm not concerned with price or wear, as this is a garage queen-going cross town or trips to Julian. Noise, or absence thereof, is important. Handling is not as important as this is not my TT car and most will handle well. Tire Rack lists BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KD, Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position, Dunlop SP Sport 9000, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, Kuhmo ECSTA MX.

Any personal experiences?

Ecsta MX's are very good tires, but they are not Pole Positions. If you want maximum grip and a tire that lives by it's name go Pole Positions. :D

With a 10" wheel you can go up to a 315 tire for the street.
