Programing a 996 Key fob

Postby JayG on Thu Nov 19, 2015 9:38 pm

One of the key fobs for our 04 Targa gave up the ghost.
I have a replacement key fob with barcode on the way and will need to get it programmed to the car

Anyone have access to a PWISS or PST2 that can program it for me?

Thanks,
Jay

wow, 110 views and not 1 comment, suggestion or ???

In any case, it appears that the only place to get a key fob programmed is at a Porsche Dealer.
Even if you have a PWIS, you need some special security codes that only a dealer can get.

I checked with both dealers in San Diego
One wanted $160 to program the key and the other $79

Guess which one I am using....

FYI, when we were having starting problems with the racecar, I decided it was easier to move the entire electrical system from my Targa to test it than trying to get individual components to work together. Moved ECU, security system and ignition back and forth.

It is a stupid system to make money for the dealer I think.
