Help resurrecting the German Lee (944) & FOR SALE

Postby tjgalati on Mon Mar 13, 2017 12:47 pm

Hey all,

Ive been out of it for awhile and am looking for a little help. Here is the story....

I had a race team a few years ago. We did 24 hours of Lemons, ChumpCar and some TTs with PCA and POC. Our little beater 944, The German Lee, was a good little car and our team was fun. The team fell apart and so did the car. We blew a head gasket and did a night repair at a Lemon's event. It didnt really run right, the team fell apart and the car sat on my trailer for a year or more.

In Oct i brought the car to my garage and decided to "mostly" rebuild the engine. I wanted to do it right so i pulled it and replaced everything except the block to crank bearings. I added external oil cooler, motor mounts and dropped it back in. I now cant remember how to hook up some of the top end stuff, and my top drop in method proved to screw something up with the clutch and trans to crank. Its locked up and wont roll easily in Neutral.

This weekend im going to pull tranny, TT and bell to fix up binding issues similar to replacing the clutch... But i could use some help with the top end and possible someone who knows how to deal with tension on timing belt.

The twist is, that it is now all for sale. Im going to be downsizing and going full time RVing and no need for it any longer. The car (with all spares), trailer (Carson with tire rack), radios, gas cans, etc.. Turn key solution. As well, all my personal gear is for sale. Tools, race suit, gloves, shoes, helmets, hans, etc.. etc..

Im looking for ppl who are interested guiding, wrenching, buying or anything else in effort of getting it right, and getting it gone. Beer, Pizza, shade, bossing around an idiot, and lot of stuff for sale are all I can offer.

Wanna play?

Might be interested in the tools, car, trailer. Not the driving gear. Spares? Call me at 619.994.0919

TJ,
Biggest issue is that many of us will be at Big Willow this weekend racing in NASA.
See if you can find an open weekend. I am willing to help.

TGIF y'all. I hope most of you had a great time at the track last weekend. I miss it, and was thinking about you as I was wrenching.

Ive gotten to a point over my head and could really use some knowledgeable ppl to help guide me on a few issues. Does anyone have time Sat or Sun morning to stop by (Del Mar area) and show me a few things with respect to why i dont have much clutch fork spring and my clutch pedal will not rebound. Yes, i have bled the hell out of the clutch slave (from bottom up) but something in the fork does not seem right. Ive taken apart 3 times now, but maybe im just expecting something that i shouldnt?

No need for you to get dirty, i just need a stern talking too. LOL

Please reply, PM me, email or call and i will make arrangements to be here when u can make it.

Free (used) Large cool shirt to first one that can help.
