Secured Qualcomm Dates

Postby mtcurran on Wed May 10, 2017 10:47 pm

Hello All,
I secured the dates listed below with the Stadium Authority today for the remainder of the 2017 AX season. These are tentative dates that still await approval by the PCASDR Board before becoming official. These dates can be used for AX, PDS, Instructor Days, Car Control events, "Other Car AX," etc. I am posting these dates now so you can put them in your schedule but please keep in mind that none of them are official dates until the Board gives approval at the June 7th Board meeting and designates what event will correspond with each date.
Kind regards,
Mark

With the Q on the chopping block, can the club consider doing a few DE's there before it's gone for good? The DE's we used to do were so cool. For those who weren't around back then, the club would set up a long course for continuous lapping ( 4 or 5 20 minute sessions per run group). There were typically 2 turn outs to so drivers in front could pull over to allow faster drivers behind them to pass with no drama. It was great.

The reason the DE's were cancelled was due to the degrading track surface. It was believed that the DE's contributed a lot more wear and tear than an autocross, so in the interest of longevity of the surface we stopped doing them. Since the Q is going away that's no longer an issue. I think we should bring them back for the last hurrah. What say you?

I too had fun at the Qualcomm DEs but another downside of deteriorating asphalt is the large chunks and gravel that get tossed up from the car in front of you. Not sure a DE would be fun if I was constantly worried about following too closely and needing a new windshield. Just my .02.

From what Mark announced at the AX on Sat., the next event will be in the west lot on July 1, which isn't even listed in the tentative dates above. We'll know more after the Board meets tonight.

Hello All,
The PCASDR Board approved all of the dates that I secured with the Stadium Authority with the exception of the June 25th and the September 9th dates that were taken away by the Stadium Authority. . I was able to secure July 1st for our next AX so we don't have to wait almost two months for our next AX.
I will let all of you know which date will be designated as a Zone 8 AX after speaking with the Zone 8 AX Chairwoman.
Kind regards,
Mark

Did we get a finalized schedule of which dates are what? Not to be picky; just trying to plan my commute (which, when you're commuting from Bakersfield, is a thing.)

You're right.
DE's were fun, but also very hard on car's body parts / windshields from all the debris generated.
I'd have to have a totally sacrificial car to do another DE @ the Q.
Currently I do not.

cheers

If you don't follow the car in front closely, you don't have to worry about debris. But I have a Miata too if we want to do a "Sacrificial Car Event" :D

Wondering what dates we are ending the year with... all of these? They are listed on our event calendar, but 11/5 isn't on motorsportsreg.

Thanks!
