Paintless Dent Repair Recommendation

Postby kcheves on Tue Apr 29, 2014 9:08 am

Does anyone have a local recommendation for PDR? I'm looking at new-to-me 997 that has a small ding in the rear wheel well, and would like an assessment if it can be pulled.

Thanks,

Kit

Kit, a few of the members have reported good results with BumperDoc. They are a Witness advertiser at times. No personal experience with them.

I have used Carrillo Auto Body on Mission Gorge Rd. a few times: BMW 530i, Toyota Land Cruiser and BMW X-5. The work is excellent, fast and the costs surprisingly low. A BMW dealer wanted $500 labor to replace the X-5 running boards; Carrillo charged $85. BumperDoc charged $1200 to install Rennline screens, re-spray and re-screen the 997 front bumper. I used them because they advertised in the Witness. I think I got charged a "Porsche Premium". Next time I'll go back to Carrillo.

+1 for Bumper Doc. :D
My wife and I have used Bumper Doc too many times... The Boxster a couple of times, the BMW 545 3-4 times, a complete redo on our Jeep Sahara after a theft, collision, and a recovery in Mexico that according to the police report involved the Jeep being rammed by the Mexican police car. A couple of times I was sure they would say "you need a new (bumper, fender, ...)", but each time they fixed it for a very reasonable price. The same parts look great years later.
There are a couple of different ones around town. We have had most of the work done by the one off Convoy.
One time we did have to go back. Marian's mother's ancient Volvo looked like the "before" car in the old Earl Scheib paint ads when we took it in - looked great afterwards. After several weeks, we saw some paint flaking and took it back. They completely fixed all the paint problems - no questions, no cost, and they were very apologetic about it not being perfect the first time.

Kit,

Just yesterday I had some PDR done for the first time. A guy on meth or some other chemical kicked the passenger door of my Infiniti while I drove by him two weeks ago. He then proceeded to pick up potato-sized rocks and start hurling them at both oncoming and passing cars. I followed him, he was arrested, and all that business. But I digress.

I originally went to Amato's for my insurance claim and then after looking closer at the damage, I thought a good PDR guy might be a better route. And I'm glad I made that choice. Myke from Dent Time quoted me by email in about 10 minutes, then came to my office yesterday and pulled the dent in less than two hours. The service was impressive and he (Myke) knows his stuff. Here's a link to his Yelp listing:

Good luck,

Matt

I use a guy named Isreal Hernandez 619-822-9881 who is independant and very reasonably priced. $85-95 for a door ding from what I recall. He is a magician; he repaired a dent on the hood of a BMW X5 that was on the crease that others looked at an said they couldn't do. I've referred him to several people who have all been very happy. He's service is mobile and he's a good guy.

If you haven't already taken your Porsche to another Dent Repair Facility, I would highly recommend Dent Works, located at 5620 Paseo del Norte (Carlsbad Car Country). The Owner is Dennis Alcaras, Phone No. 760-908-4772 and they have a one-day mobile service anywhere in S.D. County. As far as I know they are the exclusive Dent Repair Service for Hoehn Porsche and there are discount dent repair services that are run by them on a regular basis. Charges are very reasonable and are usually made on the basis of dings/dents per panel. The dings that I had repaired by them- you could not find afterwards with an electron microscope!! :D Rich Fatuzzo

I highly recomend this guy, he did magic with my 968. Took out a 6" crease in the lower rear plus 4-5 door dings. Absolutley perfect and he will come to you.

Greetings all,

It's been a few years since anyone has posted on this thread. I'm looking for excellent quality PDR services for my '87 and '88 911s (located in Encinitas / Carlsbad). Any new or updated recommendations?

Thanks,

Hello PCA SDR,

I just wanted to post up the results of my PDR. Enrico at Modern Image referred me to Israel at www.dentezout.com and he did an excellent job on my '87 and '88. I will use him again. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bht4PC2HdGn ... roso.frank
