Hi Mark (and Bill),

First: Bill, thanks for telling me what you thought about the idea of adding a swimming pool to our property, and Mark, thanks for telling me that even if you didn't build them, you could recommend someone who would.

Second: I'm not in CA now and haven't opened our SDR website for several weeks. But now that I have, I want to say that when Thanksgiving came and went, it was for guys and gals like you that we gave thanks: spending your personal time for the benefit of the rest of us. Expecting the Board will provide its blessings, but the real "blessing" is your taking the time to look out for the rest of us :D

Parting question: during your meeting (and given SCCA and BMW being there as well), and considering that the SDCCU looks to be around for a few more years, did anything come up re re-paving the parking lot(s)???

Thanks again,

Jim

Hi Jim,
Repaving the parking lot has been at the top of my wish list. Unfortunately, Santa Clause did not attend the meeting.
Happy Holidays,

Sadly, no more asphalt repairs or maintenance will occur at the Mission Valley Stadium (it's changed names so many times, I just call it the Mission Valley Stadium).

The current budget for the skeleton crew that currently works at the satdium, plus the utilities, materials for replacement of safety/basic building structure, and security is rumored to run about $1M a month, or there abouts. Since the city is so poor at managing it's funds, it's highly unlikely any addition al cash will ever be put forth by the current owner (City of SD) for parking lot repairs or upgrades (upgrades being new pavement). AND... since City Staff that might work at the stadium are frequently Union Members, they tend to block any attempts for private organizations (like car clubs, karting groups, etc) to come in on their own to make improvements/repairs to the current surface, claiming loss of potential income from non-union work being performed at a City facility.

So... let's start autcrossing off-road vehicles with slow-speeds and lots of pot-hole jumping. With the inclusion of all the new underground vaults, we could use their diamond-plate lids as drift-inducing apex markers to get our 4X4's sideways at the exit of turns. Points would be awarded for highest pot-hole clearance, and longest full-lock-drift turn exits. Maybe tire & wheel companies would sponsor us.
