Possible new AX site in Otay?

Postby ttweed on Tue Aug 20, 2019 1:35 pm

For those who remember the great AX venue at the EVOC in San Berdoo, it appears that San Diego County is in the process of building a similar facility in Otay.

I wonder if there is any chance that the car clubs could obtain access to this new $30M facility? As I remember, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's office decided that renting the EVOC up there to car clubs was not worth the liability in the end, and we lost the venue. :banghead:

On behalf of the joint Alternate Site Committee (BMW, SCCA, and PCA), I've reached out to the San Diego Community College District's Vice Chancelor for Facilities Management.

Just an FYI
Lot C @ the Elsinore Storm Stadium was just repaved and is still hosting advanced CHP training.
Big lot with minimal obstructions

Before we moved to CA from VA one of the local BMW chapter's autocross venues was the very large training pad used by the Maryland State Troopers. Of course we also were allowed to do DIYs at the local BMW dealer's shops on Saturdays, with one or two of the dealer's techs hanging around to help out. What's that saying? "The good old days."
