At least this porsche has a dry sump lubrication system. At least I hope they did not mean "integrated dry sump".

Very nice car. It will be a killer for the competition I am sure. From my understanding they are thinking this LMP2 car will be able to compete with the LMP1 cars. It will be interesting to see how it does! Maybe another Porsche will win the Le Mans overall in 2006?

I'm not sure if the LMP2 car will be competing with other LMP1 cars but I am pretty sure I read that Porsche will come out with an LMP1 version in 2007 or 08 after getting their feet wet (again) in top level racing.

Porsche already stated they thought they would be competitive in LMP1 with the LMP2 car, it would not be surprising to me. Producing an LMP1 car will be determined upon how successful a venture the LMP2 car is from a revenue/profit stand point.

oh-no!!! New Porsche on Michelin Tires

Postby Kenyon Blower on Thu Jun 23, 2005 4:02 pm

In looking at the new LMP2, it will be running on Michelin tires. Will it run into problems like F1 did? Can it handle the back straight-away into turn 10 at Road-Atlanta? Will it just take one lap then sit on the sidelines for the race. Inquiring minds want to know.

Last year, I was able to run flat out thru the the back straight and just lift into turn ten without braking.......OK it was in a golf cart wth maybe 5hp (just slightly less than my 2.5L Boxster) but I thought I was going really fast. I even made the Vroom sounds going around the track.
