Unfortunatly I couldn't make it on Sunday. How was the track? Looking at the map it looked...ummm...interesting?

It also looks like Papa smurf is closing in on baby smurf... TTOD again? At least Martin still beat Capt. Neptune..

Great effort by Mark and Erik with the new Blue RSR from Black Forest Porsche.
I saw them in the morning after the first 4 laps on the brand new car. Mark said the car was pushing.
He made sway bar adjustments but his biggest problem was he could not find new front tires in the size he needed.
So he had mis-matched Kumho 710s on the rear and old Victoracers on the front.
When that's resolved, the car dialed in, soon as Erik has some seat time in it, watch out west lot!
So TTOD for first time out, congrats Kinningers!

Congrats to Erik and Mark. That is one tough-looking RSR. Love that vintage cachet of the early cars, but how about a little of that early look in a late car? Did anyone notice Bob Gagnon's new houndstooth inserts in his 964 Cup car? Looks like they added enough speed for him to win KI class.

My first AX and it was so much fun. It was great to take the techniques I learned at PDS (Thanks to all the instructors, especially Martin) and apply them to a timed run. Don Middleton gave me some good tips as my instructor and the rest of you AX'rs were generous with tips as well. The tight track seemed to suit my Boxster just fine. Awesome job AX team.

Yeah judging by the air under the front tire, and his car's firmer spring settings easy to see he's got it on rails already!
Nice photo dancing on the edge.
Could that be the head mech at the wheel?

Yes Tom, Bob Gagnon is showing some highstyle with the houndstooth? pattern. That car is on of my list of AX top 10 favorites.

I have to bring attention to Don Middleton who drove to 2nd in the BRI. Wow! Don has steadily been getting quicker and quicker. Don decidedly beat Dan Chambers, who is noticeably quiet. Don was 4/10th in time behind BRI winner Jess Osterberg in his 2L 914. I'm not convinced the 911SC should have a BRI index of 1.017; whereas, the CS 914 has an index of 1.000. Nice drive to both of you.

Congratulations to Team AX 2007 for another great event. Sounds like we had 108 drivers. David Kochanek, Ron Trotter and Jackie Lu put together another wonderful day. Some questioning found that this is the first "woman designed track" for SDR since the days of Margie Smith-Haas' presidency. Special congratulations to Jackie for her track design, and we look forward to more. Some of you might not know that Jackie is an architect and has been working with David to do more track design this year. I did hear a rumor that the 914 club made a big contributuion to Jackie's AX Chair Re-Election Campaign Fund prior to the April AX. Someone should investigate. Nice job, everyone. And congratulations to all the new students who attended their first AX. We have some stellar new drivers.

Some may believe that this was a 914 track. Truth is, they are all 914 tracks (with the exception of the straight-hairpin-straight-hairpin-straight DE tracks in the West lot.)

Certainly the more technical tracks will favor those of us that rely less on big motors and big brakes and more on finesse and skill to turn in a quick lap

This from a guy who recently bumped his displacement by what, about 33%, eh?

As Mark Donahue said: "When you can lay down 2 black stripes from the corner exit to the next braking zone, you have enough power."

Yeah, that's worked out great. I actually most recently reduced my displacement by about 100%

My times aren't that great, but you wouldn't believe the grip!

Hey, I'm just trying to cut into the crying I hear every time a track is designed that won't allow 100 mph in a parking lot. Looking at the results for Sunday, you will not find a 914 in the top 10 (Austin was driving his dad's 911, though he's plenty stinking fast when he's in the 914.)

Seems to me it was mostly a 911 track!

Thanks to everyone for putting this on, I have watched a few but this was my first real run. What a blast!

Mark, what an incredible showing for your first AX! Well done!
