I am a PCA member from the Nord Stern region who has volunteered to help out with a new charity fundraiser for supercar enthusiasts. You may already be aware of the Utah Fast Pass. It's an event at which it would be great to have Porsche well represented, so I am asking that you consider posting this notice on your region's website and/or forward this to any members who mgiht find this type of event to be of interest. Here is a quick overview:
July 30 through August 2 ~ Utah Fast Pass (Salt Lake City). Open to 50 ~super cars~ of yesterday and today, this inaugural event is being organized by Larry Miller (owner of the Utah Jazz and Utah's new Miller Motorsports Park race track) as a fun charity fundraiser.
Each day the Utah Highway Patrol will guide the group on a spirited tour of some of Utah's most scenic and thrilling mountain highways. On the third day, the troopers will shut down a 13 mile section and let participants experience the appropriate potential of their cars. For added fun, participants may choose to run at top speed through a charity radar trap in which the driver's top speed is memorialized with a speeding ticket (suitable for framing) - but not on your driving record - for a tax-deductible donation to the earmarked charities such as the Utah Highway Patrol's Honoring Heroes Foundation, Special Olympics, etc.
The high-speed fun continues that afternoon as the group takes to Miller Motorsports Park for hot laps. That evening, the cars will be on display on a closed off and secure block in downtown Salt Lake City so that the general public can see such a unique assembly of super cars while the participants celebrate 23 floors overhead at the Gala Ball and charity auction which caps off the event.
Other notes:
• Every community through which the Utah Fast Pass is scheduled to drive through or stop for lunch/dinner is very excited, so at each stop, there should be healthy crowds.
• If someone has a noteworthy supercar that is not registered for street use, the State of Utah is issuing special ~Utah Fast Pass~ temporary license plates to participants.
The package price of $5,000 (a portion of which will be tax deductible) is all inclusive: entry for one car, first-class hotel accommodations (double occupancy) and meals each day included the Gala Ball for both driver and co-driver. I hope you agree that it would be great to have Porsche well represented by a 959, GT1, Carrera GT and the like. But there are only 50 slots available and the application deadline is just a few weeks away (March 17), so please spread the word as you see fit.
Thanks a million,
Steve Beddor

p.s. Immediately after the Utah Fast Pass, Miller Motorsports Park is hosting the Hero's of Speed Historic Sports Car Race (HSR), and this provides three more options for PCA members:
1) Enter the Race. I have raced with HSR as a guest at a few races over the past two seasons and I have been very impressed the organization. The mix of race cars is amazing: from 1950 Allards to to 962s to Ferrari F1 cars. If your region has club racers with historic or even modern Porsches, there is a class for them to run. I am going to enter my 1997 Ruf CTR2sport, so if any member fellow interested in learning more about getting into the show, I would be happy to assist.
2) Porsche Coral. The track will have a Porsche car coral at both it's ALMS race on July 13-15 and the HSR race of August 3-5, so if any groups of PCA members want to organize road trips to either race, there will be a central spot for members to congregate, socialize and display their cars. I have also asked the track consider letting members take to the track for parade laps during the lunch breaks. For the HSR race, all of the supercars that just finished the 3-day Utah Fast Past are being asked to display their cars at the track as well, so is should be a nice opportunity to see rare cars such as the Enzo, Mercedes/McLaren SLR, Pagoni Zonda, etc. If any groups are interested, they can contact Carolyn Ashburn at 801-563-4116, cashburn@millermotorsportspark.com for details.
3) Utah Fast Pass Gala Ball. Members can also attend the Utah Fast Pass Gala Ball the night before the race weekend begins (Aug 2) as a show of force and support for the Porsche owners who ran in the event. A city block in downtown Salt Lake City is being closed that night, so that all of the supercars will be on display as the entrants celebrate 23 floors above at the Gala Ball and charity fundraiser. Again, Carolyn would be the contact to buy tickets to the Ball.
