Which way to Pahrump?

How is everyone planning to get to SM? 15 all the way into Vegas, or 127/178 into Death Valley. The latter looks like it should miss some Vegas-bound traffic, but the route is straight through the middle of NOWHERE! I would hate to have car trouble out there. I wonder where Death Valley got its name?

Last year Glenn and I took the middle of NOWHERE road. It worked out fine but you do not want to break down out there. There really is a middle of NOWHERE and that's it.

The good news is about every 15 minutes a Porsche will be going through and should be able to save you from Death Valley. Middle of no-where, but some pretty scenery, no traffic and much shorter, works for me. Just don't cut it too close on gas, some of the hills do use a lot and it is a LONG walk between stations.

Get gas before you exit 15N to get on 127. The gas prices at that exit are about 20 cents a gallon higher than any place else in CA. There are several places before the 127 exit that will leave you with more than enough gas to get to Pahrump.
