DE at the Q, good times!
Imo at a DE your car control skills should already be satisfactory. DE is more about learning to drive in traffic, improving your situational awareness.
That said I've seen some pretty embarrassing first session spins, some before they even got on the track.
TCRA at Big Willow Sunday morning a Radical spun into a hot pit light pole.
I like Jack Miller's policy if you should spin during the morning's first TT practice session, just bring it in your done for that session.
First session, cold track, cold car, cold tires, cold brain.
During the first session at a QDE the track will be loose/sandy.
Spinning happens but it is not necessary to do so to find your limits.
Some think crashing is just a way of finding your limits; I doubt air show pilots agree with this viewpoint.
