Here is the video (Laguna Seca posted earlier ina different format) which has been degraded since I converted it twise to put the diplay on it. This is an example of what you can do with the G2X data acquisition system, trackvision software, and the ChaseCam PDR100 solid state video recorder.

$943.50 G2X data system (data box, in car display, and software)
$800.00 PDR100 Solid state Compact Flash system(ChaseCam) box with 1 sony lipstick camera.
$120.00 Track vision software for over lay on video.


So I guess it is around $2000.00 though it is all rugged stuff and will not break like mechanical video cameras. This setup provides very solid data acquisition unlike some video systems that run $1500 by themselves and do not have digital video nor data.

The PDR100 does not require downloading to format into digital as it is MPEG-2 format native. The G2X is like PDR100 in that the data is gathered on Compact Flash. Easy to load to computer at the track or later.

PDR100 requires a 2GB to 4GB card if you do not want to have to upload video each session.

Biggest bang for the buck is the G2X if you want to improve your driving though all the video and data overlay is quite nice also.

Sorry about the degraded video as it is much better than that when not converted as this one was.

I have had really good luck with the Race Logic DL1 (DL2 is even nicer) and the Chase Cam stuff is top notch.

I used the DL1 last year extensively and it is extremely useful for both car and driver development.

The G2X is very similar and has many of the same features. This kind of stuff seems expensive at first glance, but it can really help get you to the front of the field.

Just for correction, the MPEG2 format of the ChaseCam PDR100 is full-screen 720x480 video, not the lower quality MPEG4 video typically seen on mass-produced Chinese systems. The cameras are also not manufactured by Sony, but built solely to our Motorsports specifications for racing-- the camera is powered by the recording device (no mess of cables and power packs), has a distinct aluminum case, 520-line, the LUX is ideal for higher light sources (read: outdoor racing), and the lens and cover is spec for us as well. These cameras cannot be purchased outside of our company, and are a perfect match for our Broadcast-quality solid state recorder.

By the PRI show in Florida in 5 weeks, the PDR100 will also directly interface with data aquisition-- there will be no need to overlay and synch in post-production, with no quality loss. Several manufacturers are building THEIR data aq systems around our video recorder. It's that good. Two top Formual One teams seem to agree also....funny how a small company a few miles from Qualcomm can capture the interest of Racing Elite!!

I am hoping to have the new version of the PDR100 available on one of our racecars at the Nov 10 event (assuming our pre-payment goes through), as well as our full line of camera mounts.
