Aero aid question for AX classification

Postby ajackson on Thu Jan 25, 2007 4:33 pm

I have a 77 911S. Does anyone have data on the possible spoilers for that model or know if people generally take points for them? I have an oem whale tail and rubber front spoiler on my car, but I am not sure if they are considered stock or not. I've heard varying opinions from people at AX's about whether or not to take points.

Thanks,
Alan

A 77 911S (Class-H) never came with any spoilers.
75-77 Carrera 2.7 & 3.0 did but that is a Class-J car.
77 Turbo did but that is a class-K car.

So a USA version '77 911S takes 2 points for any aerodynamic device installed on the car... Even though it doesn't help at an AX.

BTW- It would have to be installed on over 10% of the cars in the group in question, that being '74-'77 911S.

Any idea why the 74-75 Carrera 2.7 is an H class car? It gets a 210hp engine, 225 wheels, and a 2369 base weight, which sounds closer to a J class car as you mention. In fact, in the points for wider tires, it specifically says that the 2.7 Carreras get to take less points for the same sized tires as other 911's in the class. Also, would the 2.7 cars be considered in the same series for updating/backdating considerations (2.7 911/911S/Carrera)?

Just checked the rules for updating/backdating:

Any 911 Model 1974-77

I guess that brings me to Tom Tweed's question about doing an engine swap and counting points from the highest HP car in the series and possibly being penalized points for nothing more than a VIN.

A 74-75 Carrera is a 175HP CIS injected car...(essentially a '77 911S with flares and a tail and 225's) The 210HP (Mechanically injected) Carrera is a euro car. All rules apply to US spec cars.

As for update/backdate.... I Dunno.
