8 x 16 1986 944 turbo phone dials?

Postby Tim Comeau on Sun Feb 11, 2007 12:00 pm

Hey guys,
I'm trying to help a new 944 guy out. He's not a club member yet. Anyway, he's looking for a set of 7 and 8 x 16 phone dials that came only on the 1986 944 turbo. These still have the early offset.
Any local leads? Already tried AUTOBAHN.
Thanks!

What about Wheel Enhancement? A bit pricey, but usually they have a good selection of OEM and after-market P-car wheels.

There are a lot of wheels advertised in the back of the Panorama every month, too. Don't know anything about the suppliers or their cost, but lots of "wheel-dealers" in the back Classifieds section of each Pano.

Good luck....

Tim:

I still have the original set of wheels that came with my 1986 944 Turbo but they are not the phone-dials but the stronger, lighter Fuchs alloys, 7 front / 8 rear. My set was chromed originally and obviously the chrome is showing some wear. It your friend is interested, I can consider selling that wheel set to him.

Dan,
Thanks, but Wheel Enhancement does not have the best prices by far!
I was looking for something local before we start searching the rest of the country, but I did see a set in the back of the Pano.
Otto,
I launched you an email. I'll call Kevin about your offer.
Big thanks to both of you! I knew my PCA friends could get us somewhere sooner.

Use the usual sources like Ebay, Rennlist and Craigslist.
I purchased a few sets while trying to put together one set of 4, 16"x8" for all 4 corners on my turbo. I eventually purchased 12 wheels total  , 7 of which were 7" and the other 5 were 8"...kept the 8's and sold the 7's. I run the 8" on all four corners on my '86 turbo, 245/45/16, works well for rotating. :D
Just keep an eye on the classifieds in the above sites and you will find some.
Some of the wheels that I bought needed repair and refinish which I had done at US Wheel Repair in El Cajon. :D

Yes, Mike. I believe I bought my 7 x 16's from you along with some other 15's.
