Membership card and Time Trial permit for May 12 DE?

Postby SteveS on Mon May 07, 2007 6:12 pm

Kameron and I are making our first "track" appearances for the year at the May 12th "Q" DE. I note that we must display membership cards in order to drive on Saturday. But, I'm relatively certain that I (we) can't find my card (our cards) in time for the event. Is there any relief available from that requirement?

Also, even if not required for the DE, I'm pretty sure that I need to renew my Time Trial permit -- at least prior to Pahrump in June. Is Vince since handling those and, if so, is an email to him the best way to handle that?

On the registration form for Pahrump (http://www.pcasdr.org/img/2007/Calendar/TimeTrial/SpringMt2007June.pdf) there is a line for 2007 Zone 8 Comp Permit ($10). Just fill that in with a 10 (for ten dollars) and we will handle it from there. If you will have a qualified co-driver with you make it 20 to cover their Comp Permit or Log Book as well. If you prefer to take care of it separately, Paul Young handles these now.

The BMW club and 944 Spec group have been invited to the DE on Sat., from what I've heard. Many of these people will not have PCA membership cards, so I don't think that requirement will be enforced for this specific event.

Why the BMW club? Isn't this just taking way from our precious track time.

Just closed the pre-registration for the DE and there are no BMW Drivers registered. However, there will be a good show of 944 Spec Drivers.

At one Friday? AX where we invited the BMW club last year, a whole bunch of them showed up without preregistering.

As I understand it, their normal procedure is not preregistering, just show up and drive. This may happen Saturday. If they are not preregistered, will they be allowed to drive? If so, we could have a few more drivers.

Bill,

There are 53 pre-registered drivers and I have rec'd a few more entries but have stopped pre-registering. Yes, anybody invited, and who has met the minimum driving requirements of 6 AX, etc. (see below)

http://forum.pcasdr.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2017

may register the day of the event and pay the full price. I believe we usually have about 8 - 10 walkups.

So the question still stands. If I show up tomorrow without my membership card will I be sent home? Should I even bother getting up early? I think I may be able to find my competition permit, but am not 100% sure. I don't even think PCA national sent me my race license this year yet.... so maybe I didn't lose my membership card, maybe I just haven't received it yet....

If you have a PCA.org account (free with PCA membership), you can login, then go to the Home page and in the upper right corner is a blue panel with your membership number and date of expiration (plus other stuff).
I am sure if you print out that page, the registration team will accept that as proof of current PCA membership. :D

So the answer is "Yes". If Steve or I show up tomorrow without some form of proof of membership we will be sent home!

Sorry for not answering the original question. I have emailed the DE Chairs to reply. But I'm pretty sure that with all the AX experience you guys have in the database, you will be trusted to supply your membership card next time.

We have had an "out" for those that do not have their current proof.

For the last year (or longer) we have had a "Honest-I-Swear-I-Am-A-Member,-Seriously-Pinky-Swear-Cross-My-Heart-Hope-To-Die-Stick-A-Needle-In-My-Eye" form.

Mike, you are not the first, nor will you be the last person to misplace their card. A while back, this form was created to mollify those that want to ensure that our events are being attended by paying members.

It's part of our "Tech Box" and I will have it with me in the morning.

See you there.

My guess: come on down. There should easily be a way to "vouch" for you.

Also, yuor registration data should be inthe registration database. someone should be abe to look it up ... no problem.

Mike: Sorry for the late reply. We will not be checking membership cards since we invited the two non-PCA groups. We'll take your money even if you refuse to sign Herb's excellent pinky finger form. But, don't make Herb mad as you might still fail Tech. See you in the morning.
