Shade in the Qualcomm southeast lot?

Postby chris914 on Mon May 21, 2007 2:37 am

I have never done an autocross in the Qualcomm southeast lot.

Is there shade like the west lot?

Very little, only a few trees in the raised beds and sidewalk planters offer any shade. The trolley overpass is too far south of the pits to help, as it does in the west lot.

If you park along the sidewalk/tree'd handicap areas, you'll find some shade from the pines ... mostly in the afternoon (this area is often near the Tech Inspection area). But beware ... you won't be the only one looking to park there.

We bought an easy-up for just such events. You can find them for as little as $50.00 at the big box stores. If you plan on future driving events ... particularly TT's at Willow, Buttonwillow, Call Speedway, and especially Pahrump ... you'll want to invest in an eay-up and some folding chairs, and a cooler for cold drinks.
