Last call for 12/15 AX pre-registrations

Hi all,

This coming Saturday is our last AX event of the year, with the twist of driving the 'other' vehicle in your garage on a performance track.

If you'd like to take advantage of the $40 pre-registration price, fill out the form at http://www.pcasdr.org/img/pdf/general/S ... t_Form.pdf and send it in before midnight on Tuesday, December 11. Later entries will be charged $60.

You can still sign up, just won't get the cheaper price.
You can also show up and register tomorrow morning before 7:30. OCR is always welcome.

One more question. I have a friend who is a fellow Porsche owner ('85 Carrera) who does a lot of driving events at Willow Springs with me. As far as I know, he's not a PCA member however.

Is he allowed to join the fun and, if so, how much would HIS fee be to participate?

Thanks again. I'm trying to convince him to trek up with me tomorrow.

Then how have we invited BMW club members in the past?

Really? Hmm. And I finally convinced him to come to an Autocross. Is this one of those hard and fast rules or can there be some leeway (I'm told that some regions enforce the rule more than others).

I'm guessing there is no way for him to join by tonight.

NO NO NO
Non-members with Porsche are invited to attend, but they may not pre-register.
This event is a little unusual since many people are not bringing their Porsches, but non-members can run if they are there for tech inspection by 7:30 with their Porsche.
The advantage for joining is to be able to pre-register and save
Only if pre-registration number were so high that the autocross chairs were concerned about the numbers could they close registration to non-members (or those who had not already pre-registered also).
Insurance has nothing to do with whether members or non-members can run.

From the standing rules page 9:
"Members may enter cars other than Porsches in SDR autocrosses with the advance consent of the event chair. Similarly non-members may participate with the consent of the event chair, either in the vehicle of a sponsoring member, or their own vehicle and only if that is a Porsche."

OK then, sounds good. My friend and I will almost certainly be there tomorrow in separate Porsches. I'm a PCA member but I'm pretty sure he is not - yet (I think he will be after he finds out how much fun this is).

If non-members can drive, why is it so important to show a valid PCA membership card at registration? Not that long ago, there were threats of turning people away if their membership card was expired or not present, so why?

Old habits die hard, but it was only this year that the rule was changed to allow non-members to drive. And only members are supposed to be able to pre-register, so there is some value to checking.

Part of the change was that without the Padres using the Q we have more dates available and the turnout at any single autocross is lower.
We were up over 150 at one point and with those numbers it did not make sense to allow non-members. But now with smaller crowds we can offer our events to non-members (if they drive a Porsche)
