Hey everybody,
Sorry I've been a stranger lately. I do plan on coming out to the autocross on the 15th with the new toy(ota): an MR2 Spyder. And so the beloved 944 S2 is up for sale. It's a great car, but I've owned it for 6 years and it's time to take on a new project. I'll bring some recent pics and a spec sheet to the auto-x.
It's a quick car, set up for time-trialing and autocross, with a harness bar, Sparco 5-point belts on the driver's side and fire extinguisher. Spring rates are certainly stiffer than stock (28-mm torsion bars, 275-lb. front springs on Paragon's adjustable spring perches), so it's still reasonably comfortable on the street. Never meant to make it an out-and-out race car. Has 968 M030 anti-roll bars all around, a pretty aggressive alignment, and really cool (and pricey!) Fikse FM10 3-piece modular wheels that weigh only 15-16 lb. apiece (17x8 front, 17x9 rear). Tire are Falken Azenis RT-615s, 225s in front, 245s rear, and they're pretty fresh with only one track day's use. Also, car has the factory limited-slip diff.
The car is Baltic Blue with a linen/blue interior. Rear seat has been removed, with carpeting glued in its place. Has a nice Alpine AM/FM/CD & leather seats. Steering wheel is a Sparco Lap 5, black leather with black suede on top portion of rim.
Best times for the car are a 1:35.2 at Willow (this was with R-compound Nitto NT-01s) and a 2:09.8 at Buttonwillow a couple months ago on Configuration #13 on the Azenis. I believe that was the same configuration for the last SDR time trial, and that would've squeaked into the top 10 on a 200-treadwear tire.
I'd keep her if I had a 2-car garage, but letting her sit outside is just out of the question.
Price is $8000 firm, which I think is pretty reasonable. I'd love to keep her in the club if at all possible.
Again, I'll bring lots of photos and info to the autocross. Look for the guy in the blue TaylorMade hat, black Yokohama jacket, driving the yellow MR2 Spyder.
