Jad, You know that Dave has a vinyl addiction. Don't tempt him. All that vinyl rehab will go to waste. :lol:

It is nice to see a 993 guy admit the 996 is a pretty nice car. I have been very happy with mine. Just took it to Palm Springs, had lots of fun including a couple of 100 mph passes and still got 27+mph with some a/c and some targa top open.

You do need to bring it to an AX to really test and get to know the performance of the car.

Well I got to admit it too.
A colleague of mine bought a 2002 996, and asked me to take it for a spin around Sorrento Valley.

I sure did enjoy it.

That's a pretty obnoxious comment from someone who should be competing in drift exhibitions :lol:

Back to the Hankooks, you can also get them from the Wheel Store in Oceanside.

I have been running them since 2006, and as a Contract Driver for 2007. We were the winningest car in our class nationwide in SCCA autocrossing last year, and came very close to winning the National Championship (1st in ProSolo National Series points). Hankook tires are priced well below the V710 and Hoosier offerings (keep in mind that Kumho is having an 8% price increase across the board starting Feb or March 1st).

For comparision,

225/45-15 Hankook Z214 $163
225/50-15 Kumho V710 $183 --> $195 with increase
225/45-15 Hoosier R6S06 $204

All Hankook race tires are available in 3 different compounds also, so you can get tires for what you are actually doing--- C31 compound for endurance racing/big heavy cars in hot weather, C51 compound for road racing or hot autocrossing, and C71 compound for qualifying, autocrossing, or cold weather racing. The C51 and C71 are faster than the Kumho V710 and last longer, while the C71 is as fast or faster than the autocross version of the Hoosier (A6S06) in testing.

The Z212 is also an excellent street/rain tire, and will be replaced in 2009 by the Z222 for better dry traction.

Hankook also offers cash contingency payouts for Podium finishes with SCCA, NASA, PCA, POC, and other series. We won almost $7,000.00 last year in combined contingency.

Sounds good to me.
