How many points it this?

Postby SDGT3 on Tue Jul 22, 2008 7:46 pm

I've thoroughly researched the rule book and I can find no points allotted for helicopter tape or pleated stone screens effectively leaving me in QS

I found this F1 related video from Speedtv to be a great technical piece on aerodynamics for race cars.

With Kurt Yaws closing the gap to me and my inability to get TTOD due to a certain unnamed smurf blue car just ahead of me, I believe I've found a way to get to finally get that all elusive TTOD without taking on more points :D

Hope you enjoy.

Peter....as with McLaren your thinking outside the box may result in tenths and maybe even full second or two improvement in your time.
Being in Orange Coast Region the SDR are people are kind of loose lipped by the time we visit the local watering hole after the events.

I will share with you a couple rumors and facts! Please keep these to yourself and don't tell anyone I told you. 8)

1. Curts improved times have been a direct result of Janet's coaching. She has been seem riding with him at ALL the OCR event.

2. Curt has been asking a lot of questions about how to get 285/30- 18 Hoosier's on the front of the GT3.
Keep a sharp eye out for tires with Nitto 01's on the side walls that have a tread pattern VERY Similiar to a Hoosier. These are being sold on the "underground grey market".

3. With reference to the SMURF mobile. I heard from a reliable sourse that it has "special" paint that makes the car 400 pounds lighter when driven at speed:)

REMEMBER the TTD is within reach at any event. After all how hard can it be to only go a couple seconds faster. :D

I talked to Mark Tyler at Victory Racing Paint (aka Qualtech) who painted the smurf mobile and he says that 500 pounds is closer to the real number! I then talked to Albert Einstein Jr. who mumbled something about if you go really, really fast that the weight (mass) can be further reduced. Said something about E = MC2.

Thanks for the tip!!! I had not thought about the prospect of dropping a few lbs with a new paint job.

I'll try that first and leave the sleep deprevation by banging of the pots and pans outside the Kinninger household the night before the next event for later in the year.

Peter:

Banging pots and pans outside the Kinninger house will most likely only p*ss off Mark and Katie.

Erik is a young pup. Do you really think he sleeps at night? He'd probably come outside with his electric guitar and join you. :roflmao:

All I heard was blah, blah, blah, all night jam session at the K house, blah, blah, blah. I'll send my kids over to play with Erik, I'm in bed by 8:30 p.m.

After seeing the video I drilled some "speed holes" in the front of my car. Does that put me in QZ? At least I have a chance of winning some points if I am the only one in my class with Peter and Curt in my QS group.

Steve, I can't believe you are giving away my speed secrets. Everyone is going to want to get Janet's coaching now, and she will raise the rates I'm having to pay. Please, say no more.

And Peter, you must not have seen the rule proposal for 2009 about the helicopter tape. Looks like it will be 2 points, putting you in QP with Mr and Mrs 650 hp on really fat tires. Then I'll have QS to myself for a while, trying to stay ahead of Martin.

As for the K car, I for one would cover Eric's bar tab if he'd stay out all night before the next AX. Anyone else want to pitch in? Maybe we could set up a fund to cover his bar tabs for the whole year of driving events. It would be good for everyone, almost.

I'm in, but I think we have to cover both Mark and Eric's bar tab.

Chuck, good point. But if we play this right, Mark might even pitch in. He has been getting the same treatment we all have.

Eric's still young (remember what that was like....so long ago....) getting hammered the night before won't affect him one bit.
