Inside information: New small mid-engine P-car coming

Postby Brad Roberts on Fri Sep 19, 2008 7:25 pm

I'll have more "mole" info soon, but if you'd like to see what will be a smaller "modern" mid-engine Porsche soon to be released, I would suggest attending the LA autoshow :)

Hopefully early next week, I'll have the engineering designation (988 or something) getting this kind of info out engineers is like pulling teeth :beerchug:

I know this has been talked about for 4-5 years now, but it appears with Porsche's recent "interest" in VW/Audi, it will become reality. Whether or not Porsche decides to recognize the "914" in marketing campaigns has yet to be seen.. but I'm trying to get that info also!

Recently I started asking questions about this semi-abandoned project, it appears the economic climate is prime for an entry level Porsche again. Something under the Boxster. Rumors of 4cyl and 6cyl are FLYING. One of the 997Gen2 engine designers specifically stated the engine was designed to be a 4cyl or a 6cyl!!

Should be interesting! I know that San Diego has a RICH 914 history with Alan Johnson leading the folks who have helped make 914 history :)

I have read that all the german companies are coming out with that same ugly car, and I think VW, Audi and Porsche have all managed to maintain the ugly appearance in what should be a cool car. Come on, GM was even able to make the Soltice and Saturn look good :banghead:

The rear end looks like a modernized AMC Gremlin with the rocket exhausts from a "B" grade scifi.

It looks more like an updated Toyota MR2. I actually like the blue VW concept better.

Looks like they're following the old principals of form follows function .. :(

The same bloated retro look as the Mustang, Challenger, and the new Camero. Maybe the designers are counting on nostalgia to drive sales. It could have been so much more...
