Well,
It has been about 60 hours since I retired. I am bored now. I guess I need to look for a job to keep me busy. Does anyone work on the waterfront? I think I want to play with boats. Any suggestions?

I think the Midway Aircraft carrier museum is always looking for people to help out there. That's near the water.

I volunteer on the Midway. I was a key player in the restoration of the Foc'sle and was the main guy behind the CPO mess restoration. I love that kind of stuff. I intend to provide some time to the club as well. I am trying to find a new niche to keep me busy. I really need to find out what the club needs/wants, I am a little unsure of that kind of thing but am a fast learner.

The club always needs help and no one expects you to be an expert. We will do on the job training.

In the back of the last Witness there was a card you could use to check off areas of interest you'd like to volunteer for and mail in. If you're still unsure you can post questions to the forum or send email to the chair positions of interest or the board. Please feel free to contact any of us. If you haven't already done so plan on stopping by the Porsche tent at the Coronado Historic races this weekend. We'd like to meet you and talk about the club and of course our cars.

If you drive a '79 SC, and you have the opportunity to travel, I'd recommend you get involved with the driving programs. Start with the Autocross program and progress through to the Time Trial events ... all the way to Club Racing? The guys in the SC-run groups .. Known as "IS or ISS" will welcome you and give you helpful hints on driving your SC the way it should be driven.

Come by the next autocross at Qualcomm Stadium and talk with anyone there. All the folks in the San Diego Region are helpful and informative. There are plenty of jobs to be done by the volunteers at these events.

I will warn you: performance driving is an infectious recreational habit that can lead to way too much fun.
