More Time Trials

Hey Time Trialers!

POC is having an event at Las Vegas the weekend after the PCA Willow Weekend. It's on the Speedway, plus infield, which looks like a great track setup.
The Speedway has progressive banking (BIG FUN!), Speeds in the oval (1.5 mile) should be comparable to Fontana due to that banking (up to 20°).
I know at Lowes last summer we were hitting speeds comparable to Fontana due to the steeper banking, despite the tighter radius turns.
Looking at videos of the infield it looks very interesting too. Lap times will probably be in the 1:50 to 2:00 range for a stock Boxster or similar car.
I have never run this track, and am very much looking forward to it (cool - two weekends in a row)!

I certainly encourage all of you who are qualified to sign up now, and you can contact the POC folks for more info. Here's the link;

PLUS, It's VEGAS, BABY!!! :beerchug:

I ran this event last year, but can't make it this year. The track is not as fast as Fontana, as the front straight is shorter, but the banking is still very fun. Be careful turning into the infield: the gap in the wall is pretty narrow.

Kris:

I think they've changed the transition from Oval to Infield. It now occurs later, just like Fontana, instead of the jog by turn 1.
Not sure if that's what you meant...

I am referring to turning left off the back straight into the infield. It is a very dangerous spot. So much so that POC put up a cone "funnel" last year to make sure the cars went through in single file.

I am certainly not saying "don't go to Vegas", just be heads up in that spot. If you miss your braking point, keep going straight instead of turning in.
