August 8 AX??

Postby Gunter on Fri Jul 10, 2009 4:46 pm

Will there be an AX instead of the DE at the stadium on the 8th?

Gunter, Yes - there will be an AX August 8.

You can take out your 5 point harness, put in your 3 pointers, wear your approved motorcycle helmet, cut the top off your car and all sorts of good things.

Bill,

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but is the 8/8 ax a points ax? Just wondering because it was not an original AX date... Was another date canceled?

:? I think Bill might have meant to say "motocross". No AX, so I'm just guessing. But, no AX was ever discussed for the 8th. It's a nice thought, perhaps, but it's not happening. We have already pushed 7 AX's into the second half of the year to accommodate the Stadium's June "shut out".

The original DE was a better idea

I just hope we don't give up the date. DE, AX whatever-seat time, seat time...and very inexpensive
Could we do a DE or AX if I find a sponsor that will take the financial responsibility so the club does not loose any money?

we can ask around for sponsorship, but in the end we still have to foot the bill if that falls through.
It takes about 66 entries to break even. If we get $500 sponsorship and limit to 70 entries, we could still turn a small profit. It would be a fun SMALL autox. or we could still do a little DE but cornerworkers cost lots of money.

Or do they?

The following disclaimer applies "As I compose this post I'm feeling alot like a guy flying a Zero 70 years ago in the South Pacific with a one way ticket " Just tack on the 10 extra bucks , limit the participation to 70 (AX)and every one have fun and bring their own adult beverages if they choose. Seeing as we all spend alot more than $10.00 each time we event a car (tires, fuel etc) it seems a moot point that if one wants to play one would pay. All that said, I'm still trying to get into my Zero with a flack jacket and flame retardant clothing on. :surr: :surr: :surr:

I like this idea a lot. 70 cars-no points event, lots of laps etc. And you don't have to "ask around" for the $ 500 sponsorship. Done deal- if the club wants it

Thats excellent Gunter!

Oh by the way, I could use a sponsorship as well... We'll call it the Beat the Smurf car fund...

:banghead: I screwed up looking at my calendar and thought we had an AX August 8.
I am discussing with the board the possibility of making this date an AX.
There are some good reasons to have it AND to not have it.
I'll get back to you all on this soon.
