I almost hesitate to post because this particular thread is mainly CDI's.
But what the heck...
Everyone working the event did a FANTASTIC job. I felt encouraged, accepted, and educated in perhaps the friendliest atmosphere possible. You even worked with my schedule for Sunday (Thanks!) I had my thinking rearranged 180deg in many driving areas and came out of it a more competent and aware driver. I found myself setting up for a late apex while driving home from the office today...in my Jeep...pulling a trailer...loaded with a motorcycle. My wife came to visit on Saturday and Sunday and was welcomed and befriended. We atended the social last Sat due to an invitation she recieved while watching me drive.
Saturday was amazing but much of what is being mentioned pertains to Sunday so I will focus there. From a Student's standpoint (well...mine at least) much of what is being discussed, track relocation, being in the sun, shortage of CDI's was pretty much a non-issue. It seemed to run perfectly and as planned. I am sure that the excitement for me as a student may have played a part. Sun? I didn't care...I was learning to drive!

The only things that I found negative was the pothole at the third cone of the slalom, the dip 3/4 of the way through the slalom and the very rough corner immediately after it. My instructor (Paul Y) who also owned the car I was driving suggested the line for that corner and encouraged me to really get on the throttle, which I did, but it made for an interesting exercise in car control.

I would only suggest that somehow finding a way to avoid the extra obstacles (dips and potholes) might allow us (the students) to focus on the techniques we are learning to a better degree. I can see the points you all are making, and they are good ones, I am curious to see how it all works out.
Thanks again for all your hard work and warm smiles,
Mark
