Need Equipment Chair and trailer deliverers for AX's

Postby Bill Behun on Tue Nov 10, 2009 12:42 pm

The autocross events still needs club volunteers for our trailer and transporting it to and from the stadium.

Lori Schuessler (2009 Chair) has done a great job getting everything in order, fixed, etc.
The "job" should go smoothly for quite some time - meaning not much work except for the day of the AX which is reallly just leading the loading of the trailer at the end of the day. Everyone pitches in in the morning so the Equipment Chair almost doesn't have to be there.

Lori's also made a list of what to do, where things are, etc. so there should be no mysteries and suprises to the task. Just follow the list. :)

Transporting trailer: If two folks that live "near" the stadium (within 10-12 miles away?) could team up with one getting the trailer to the stadium and one person getting the trailer back to the storage lot - that makes the effort and time commitment reasonable.

So, we really need one person to volunteer as Equipment Chair and 2 folks to volunteer as trailer transporters reporting to the Equipment Chair.

As a new board member, I've just received a list of all the club committees and volunteer positions. I had no idea how many comittees and volunteers there are that make our club be what it is and run so well. Impressive. I counted 72 folks that volunteer and many of them cover multiple tasks.

We only need 3 more folks to step up and we have the Autocross events covered and can have a good 2010 year of events.
Please let me and/or Curt Yaws (new president) know if you can volunteer.

Thanks,
Bill

The club will provide a rental truck to facilitate transporting the trailer, so the transporters will not need a truck.

If 4 folks could volunteer to deliver and return the trailer, then you'd only have to do it 5 or 6 times a year.

The club is looking into obtaining a used "delivery truck" so we wouldn't have to have a big pickup to haul the trailer - just drive the "delivery truck" - no hitches, easier parking, etc.

If/until then we need drivers for the trailer. Without drivers we can't have AX's. Please volunteer.

  How will the Corner Workers be delivered to their stations without a truck? Walk? :banghead: Will you move the "Delivery Truck" during Timed Runs for the final Corner Working shift? :nono:

Will the new Corner Working Chair be required to bring his/her own truck for CW deliveries? :bigcry: $$$ :bigcry:

Very curious about the "No-Truck" logistics .... :beerchug:

Don't know Dan. I heard the "delivery truck" option is being looked into. On one level it may be a good idea.
The other logistics you mentioned will have to be considered too.
Hey, maybe 10 or so Schwinn 'Banana Seat" bicycles would solve it. :roflmao:

Excellent! I'll dust off my Schwinn "Sting Ray" and adjust the seat downward for sharing.

Hey Dan,

Put my name in the hat for support crew. The catch is; I like to run in NASA events, which often seems to run the same day. So I may only be available 1/3 the time or so.
I also have a big 7.5L 87' F250 with long bed/brake controller (UGLY). Terrible on Gas, but can get things down the road. I'm 5 miles from Stadium.
Let me know how I can help.

Thanks Jim for volunteering.
Now we only need 1,2 or 3 folks to also volunteer and it will be a fairly easy 2010 for getting the trailer for the autocrosses.

A few years ago we used to throw the cones out of the trailer, we could do the same out of a delivery van. The corner working gear could be delivered when the track is thrown.

As far as the corner workers, what's wrong with walking? I mean, come on, what is it to the farthest reaches of the west lot 5 minutes .

Having dealt with the logistics of the trailer, the rental truck, the no truck available, the pick up and the drop off of personnel- a delivery truck makes a lot of sense.
