Dec. 12 Other Car AX - bring friends & family rules

OTHER CAR AX/fundraiser – Saturday, December 12

Since the Other Car AX is non-competitive (no final official timed runs) the AX team thought there might be an opportunity for us to invite some friends/family to experience what we do in a couple of ways. We’ve discussed this with the board and received approval for this as long as a few things are followed.

The fundraiser is for the San Diego State Auto Club of which 3 of them are PCA members and drive in some of our AX’s. They’ve displayed the car they are building at our events before and will display their car again – I hear it’s almost done. They will have a table set up where they will hand out tickets when they take the entrance fees for the “Taste of the Track” passengers and for the Track Tour. (see below for entrance fees) We are thinking most AX passengers would be going at least 2 laps or more depending on how many passengers we have. If we have a ton of passengers we may have to limit it to 2 laps per passenger, we’ll see.

To make this work we’ll need to have folks have their “friends/family” be spread out through the day. We all mainly know which run groups we tend to get placed in so let’s try WHITE & BLUE groups have friends/family at the FIRST session, GREEN & YELLOW at the SECOND session, RED & ORANGE at the THIRD Session. If some folks can’t visit at the “assigned” session we’ll just work it out.

The anticipated schedule:
9:15 – 11:15 = 1st session of 6 groups @ 4 laps each
11:15 – 12:15 = first 3 groups of the 2nd session @ 4 laps each, corner workers come in.
12:15 – 12:40 = Parade laps behind pace car,
12:40 – 12:45 = Corner workers go out.
12:45 – 1:45 = second 3 groups of the 2nd session @ 4 laps each
1:45 – 3:45 = 3rd session of 6 groups @ 4 laps each
3:45 = clean up, load trailer, “special awards” voted on/handed out while still daylight.

Track Tour - Parade Lap session for about 15 to 20 minutes at “lunch time”. The fundraiser entrance fee is $2 per guest driver or passenger total, as many laps as time allows. No helmets are needed.

Track Tour – Parade Lap rules:
A “Track Tour” program may be implemented. This will allow entrants to tour the track at reduced speed. The driver must have a valid driver’s license, register for the program, pay an entrance fee, and all vehicle occupants will sign an insurance waiver. There is no age restriction for passengers. Under age passengers must have a responsible adult sign the waiver for them, and shall use DOT approved restraints appropriate for their age and weight. All occupants will use at least DOT seat belts. The Track Tour program will be run separately from other run groups and may be run without corner workers. There will be enough pace cars well spaced in the track tour group to keep speeds well below “track speed”. Participating vehicles are not limited to Porsches. All participating vehicles must be approved by the chief tech inspector as generally roadworthy.

Taste of the Track - The fundraiser entrance fee is $2.50 per passenger. We expect most passengers will go 2 or more laps depending on how many passengers there are.

Taste of the Track rules: -
A “Taste of the Track” program may be implemented. This will allow a person to ride in the passenger seat of an instructor’s car during a run session. The participant will register for the event, pay an entrance fee, and sign the insurance waiver. The Event Chairperson must approve all participants and instructors for this program.

Registration will be at the SDSU table – the participant will print their name and the name of the PCASDR club member who is registered for the event.

Participants must wear shirts, short or long pants, closed toed shoes/sneakers. Participants must wear approved helmets.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and be in good mental and physical health. However …..
16 and 17 year olds may participate according to the rules of the Junior Participation Program. The JPP program is documented in the Region Procedures Manual.
For 16 and 17 year olds, go to Minor Assumption of Risk Acknowlgement on the IMPORTANT FORMS page of the club website for more info and fill out/sign the form and bring it to the event. BOTH parents must sign the form even if both parents may not live in San Diego, are separated or divorced. Also see the FAQ (frequently asked questions) on the PCA National website for more info. At least ONE parent must be present at the event.

(If PCA members have extra approved helmets, please bring them as we may need to use them. We are planning on providing helmet head socks to friends/family at no cost to them)

We just got head socks from Miramar Speed Circiut.
Friends and family will each get one so no fear of sharing helmets.
Depending on how many friends/family come, we might be in need of more helmets. Please bring an approved extra one if you have one. Head socks will protect them. :)
