Great seats as the cars are coming straight at you at a high rate of speed and into a heavy braking zone/overtaking zone. If it's wet, that's a bonus for on track action at that spot (not so comfortable for you in the stands, however). The Silver 11 spot is good for the opening laps, but too slow of a section for overtaking.
Thanks for the input. My wife reminded me that our 3 year old son doesn't like to sit still for more than about 15 minutes, so maybe general admission tickets would be more appropriate for us. Are there good viewing areas when walking around, or is it too crowded?
The difference we found from watching an F1 race at Indy vs. Montreal was that at Indy, you can sit anywhere during Friday and Saturday practice sessions and qualifying. You only have to sit in the seats you purchase on race day. At Montreal, we were not able to sit in seats other than the ones purchased for the race day, so in essence you get the same perspective all weekend long unless you split the tickets up (Friday/Sat/Sun). When we walked around, it was difficult to see the track from other sections eventhough we were standing and not sitting in the grandstands. There is a lot to do on the island between sessions so it will keep you and your 3 year old occupied. Also, the noise of the engines at full song is not so intense in Montreal as it is at Indy due to the more open nature of the track vs. Indy's metal bleachers.
Friday practice was not sold out when we went, Saturday was almost sold out and Sunday was a mad house. Given that Bernie took away the race last year, I'm guessing that Friday-Sunday will be completely sold out this year.
