Looks like I picked the right tire to drive this year! :beerchug:
The Dunlop has performed at least as well as the Yokohama Advan NEOVA AD-07 (why didn't they test that one?), and I am getting some very good times with them.
The only "gotcha" I have found is that based on recommendations from other drivers, I was running them at low pressures at the AX, and while that may have improved the grip, it REALLY reduced their life. My two rear tires started having tread separation after only 3000 miles, and the front tires got severely cupped. :banghead:
I have replaced the whole set and will be running them at the regular pressures from now on.

Kim:

I'll bet the Advan Neova was not there because you probably can't buy one for $140. :surr:

Since we are in San Diego, the Kumho looks to be the best tire. I'd take the much better dry performance over the 5 days a year it rains. Heck the car will most likely be in the garage those 5 days anyway.

It's too bad the Sumitomos weren't thrown in the mix as well. It would have been interesting to see how they fared.
I think the PS2's are totally overpriced and over-rated.

Nor the Hankook Ventus R-S3 - I found those to be pretty good last weekend.
Better than Toyo R-888 with plenty of tread, but 15 heat cycles... :burnout:

I'd say you liked the Ventus a lot. Top BRI at both tracks

Actually, the Dunlops turned out to be great in the rain at the December Other Car AX. I had excellent times and (except when fully hydroplaning in some deep stuff) I had great grip on the very wet track. For a "dry" tire, they have excellent wet handling as well. :D
With the BFG TA-K/D tires, whenever it misted I had to trundle along the freeway in the slow lane at 45-50 and even then it was touchy.
With the Dunlops, even in fairly heavy rain and standing water on the freeway I had excellent traction.

+1 for the Dunlop Direzzas! I only have a pair in the rear and run them at 42psi on the street (for mpg) and 36psi on the track. I've never pushed them in the wet; but after an AX and a TT they have yet to break loose with S-Drive on the front. Not sure what their optimal pressure is but I've never felt the thermal melt down like I'm so familiar with on the S-Drives after a couple laps (@ 28psi). Oh, some of you may have remembered how many times I spun at the Nov AX, thanks to rock hard S-Drive on rear with 3 or 4/32 tread left. They are holding up well and at only $15 more a corner than the S-Drive, its a no brainer for me! :beerchug:
