Insane.
I m in Shanghai for business and got tickets to the race.
I saw this happen.
It was at the end of the back straight into the slowest corner on the track.
The cars go from about 200 mph to about 35. They hit the brakes AFTER they pass the 100 M marker!

In this case the minute he hit the brakes the front suspension detached from the car........he was lucky that there is a lot of runoff area. This would have been painful if the runoff area was different.

Wonder who did the tech inspection on his car

A lot higher for tomorrow's qualifying as Toro Rosso announced they're going back to the old uprights they had on the car before

I just saw this on TV and it looked like a bomb went off on the front suspension--both of the wheels separating from the car in an instant and bouncing down the track in front of him!It looked like a bad cartoon. :shock:

What a design "oops" for Red Bull!

Alonzo lost another engine in morning practice--he may be hurting for replacements by the end of the season. The lack of allowed testing opportunities may end up being a critical factor for a lot of teams this year. The ironic thing is the new teams who need it the most are the ones the "no testing" rules are designed to protect by keeping costs down. :surr:
