If you click on "the track" it appears the layout is completely different from what we ran last month at Chuckwalla, but seems to be in the general vicinity. I would presume if it was Chuckwalla they would advertise as such, wouldn't they?

Their address is in LaQuinta, which is West of Indio. Chuckwalla was 50 miles East of Indio.
This one seems to have a business plan more like Spring Mountain that Chuckwalla.
So, it seems that they are completely different, IMHO.

Different tracks gents. If you go to the FAQ you will see that they are still pulling permits and hope to have a Grand Opening in Oct 2011. Looks like a FUN multi configuration set up though. :beerchug:

That's great news and La Quinta probably doesn't have as many sandstorms as Chuckwalla does

Chuckwalla is also a "Membership" track, with plans for garages, club house, and 2 more tracks.

Big difference that I've seen is that Chuckwalla entry fees are less than 1/2 what Thermal has advertised. I've seen $125K initiation fee for Thermal, Chuckwalla is/was as low as $20K.

I think it's 2 totally different markets and if Thermal is pushing those numbers I highly doubt they will do any Club events.

I am thinking about checking out another already established new track in Willcox, Arizona http://www.indemotorsports.com/

Thermal will be amore country club layout, and will be selling plots of land and developments.

They are catering to those with $$$, as they first built the private airport, and now the track.

They are looking to get some of the big 4 companies to put in testing facilities, so they can fly in and out prototypes for desert testing and so on.

It will be more of a lifestyle track, and chuckwalla will be more like willow springs.

I have also heard that there will be a big name shop opening up on premisses too, so cars can be stored and worked on.

If the Thermal Motorsports Track is indeed located adjacent to the Jacqueline Cochran Airport it has some of the same issues as Chuckwalla.

HSR West ran the Palm Springs Revival there in November 2005. Many very valuable and collectiable vintage race cars went home needing new windshields and paint jobs as a result of the desert sand. I was a little more aggresive while over taking Mark Wichman's 911 I dropped a wheel off the track and rolled several times in their damn sand! :( HSR never went back. HSR did run Chuckwalla a month ago and will probably never return.
