new classes

Postby Gary Burch on Sat Dec 25, 2010 7:51 am

just finished with the xmas morning thing, now taking a break before the dog walk, anyway..

are the new ax tech forms going to reflect the new class structure, or will that be voluntary and we still class under the old system?

The current plan is to run the upcomming year with the old system, classes and the awards for those classes will be the same. The Tech forms should be the same for this coming season as well. When signing up it would be great if you point out your car in the new system and, for now, include that in the "Notes to Registration" area on the sign-up form. When times are posted there will be a second sheet that will show the new classes and where you would have been there (depending on how Tom B. sets it to print). This will let everyone see where the would have placed and let data be gathered.

Actually the tech form appears to have changed in that it has space to enter your 2012 Class and some point info (though it doesn't have a quick reference chart for calculating points; you must do this separately and enter the resulting data on the new tech form). http://www.pcasdr.org/img/pdf/general/AXRegForm.pdf

I was under the impression we were going to actually run the new class structure and use the old classes as that, old classes or reference or transition, or whatever...
And we were also going to use the GPX BRI system.

That was a suggestion, but it didn't gain any traction

At one point Jerry said he would take a vote at the December AX to see which way the regular autocrossers would like to do it next year (2011 vs 2012 rules). Don't know if he did or not.

Agree, Gary. I think we missed an opportunity to breathe some new life into the AX series for 2011. Well, maybe for 2012.

I had hoped it would go that way as well, but we will press on and do our very best to get that new life in there somehow Don. :beerchug: As I understand it the vote is done and the new rules take effect in 2012, no maybes about it :D .

Thanks, Mark. I'm sure you guys will do it right. I probably should have said "breathe some ADDITIONAL life..." It will be fun to try and work with new car classifications that mix various models in the same class.

Thanks Don and everyone. I don't know if we will do it "right" But it will not be for a lack of tring to do so. :burnout:

We are playing with the cards we have in hand, and think we have a winning set...that will be a FULL TRUMP next year. We did need to try and get things in place before Jan. and anticipate a wonderful year. Hey will people like the crowd are SDR...how can it be otherwise!? :beerchug:
