Which classification system to use???

No - this isn't a rant about using the "new" versus the "old" system... :surr: This is about WHICH new classification system?

There are different numbers in the Zone 8 documents for the "new" system, based on which version of the rules you reference.

For example, in the "approved 2011" rules, the CC scoring system has 320 base points for a 986 2000-2002 Boxster (me), but the 2012 rules (unapproved, of course) has 325 points (same as the GGR base). I would suppose there might be other differences in the tables... :banghead:

Can someone in authority (Tom? Steve? Bueller?) identify the "official" new CC classification system reference? Is it:
The "Approved Rules Changes for 2011" (http://zone8.pca.org/rules/2010/RuleChangesFor2011Approved.pdf),
the "Complete 2012 Competition Rules Booklet (...subject to change)" on the 2011 rules page (http://zone8.pca.org/rules/2011/2012Z8Rules.pdf),
or ??? :?
It would be good if we were all calculating our points from the same reference. :beerchug:

It makes sense to me that we would use the Complete 2012 Competition Rules Booklet. The 2011 Competition Rules booklet doesn't address the new classes and the rules proposals for 2012 are just that. Proposals for changes to the 2012 rules. I think Tom B. should clarify. It would also make things much easier if someone could develop an online classification form like GGR's. I think that would make it easier to classify cars and also allow others to get an idea of how others are using their points. It would seem to help those who are compiling statistics for comparisons by increasing the likelihood that cars are classified correctly.

Just my 2 cents.

My bad  I posted the link to the "Complete 2011 Rules", but the actual point discrepancy was in the "Approved Rules Changes for 2011" document (link updated in original post).
From the name, and from the fact it is in the "Rules for 2011" section (albeit in the "Rules Proposals" page), it appears that these were approved (on November 14, 2010) as part of the 2011 rules, but have not yet been updated in the 2011 rules booklet.

My question in the original post has been corrected, but still stands, as there is still a discrepancy between the "Approved 2011 Rules" and the 2012 rules.

Wouldn't this be a little bit easier to use if the Base Points list was right before the Modifications list?
