Actually, it was $1.375 Mil after adding the buyers premium (learned from another source)!

That's $75K for the '70S, and $1.3M for the McQueen name and "cool factor." 
Since a pair of his sunglasses went for $60K, I guess I'm not surprised...our culture of celebrity makes for some bizarre valuations in the marketplace.
