I don't know what these guys are talking about "braking into turn 1". I just roll off the throttle, select a lower gear, and roll on the throttle.
Caveat: My car only has 2.5 squirrels behind the seat to power it though.

375 pound motorcycles with 200+ rwhp (that hit 180 mph up the front straight) are a little different in this regard........heavy braking and at least three downshifts for turn one........many guys use the start/finish line as a braking marker.

Ha, we 944 guys are flat out.... that's the way we drive, flat out.... and wait for a head wind to use as braking into turn 1... when we get there..... :burnout:

Monte,
I am not a Lotus owner but I play one on TV...
Well I have done track set up at least.
If you have not modified the front spindles for extra camber you are going to get LF outside tire wear.
So just change front tires left to right between sessions.
If you wear the outsies of both tires, just flip them on the wheel.

See you at the track.
You are going to have a great time.

Yeah, work your speed up slowly and try to get a ride with Jack. And remember, as Otto says at Willow, "Your tires will hold you!" (note: this is not a guarantee, it's just something Otto encourages people to keep telling themselves as they approach what they think would be the limit of mechanical grip...YMMV).

Lets not forget, Otto is famous for two things:

1) Being very fast at Willow,
2) Going off spectacturly at Willow

I think I would suggest the start slow and work up method, as Otto is 100% correct, until he isn't...

Monte,

Although it's at Spring Mt. instead of Willow, this is Otto's technique for discovering adhesion limits. Caution, this technique may not work as well for you!

Start slowly, work up to it and for an extra thrill, follow Otto or Jackie through turn 9. Are you supposed to apex turn 9 on the left side of the car?

We're having a little trouble locating the Communicators for this event. Does anyone know who has them? Perhaps the holder is planning to bring them to Willow Springs?
