The End of a Season!

Postby CrashBrown on Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:45 am

WOW! What a track! What a weekend! What a season!
I just have to take this time to applaud this club!

In just my first full season running with all of you, I've re-acquainted myself with that passion I'd always felt with speed and the enjoyment of a well driven sports car. Not only have my driving skills greatly improved, thanks to all the top quality instructors I've been fortunate enough to have had (you can hold the jokes, as I do realize I still have much to learn) and all the mechanical and parts help I've received from various individuals, but I've found that my competitive spirit that so easily comes to the forefront and more times than not, annoys the hell out of my none driving friends, is nothing but normal in this group.

And competition . . . are you kidding me! Not only have Mr. Jerry Bumpus, Mark Bray and myself had a season long tug of war for bragging rights in our lowly GSS class
(and it looks like Jerry will take that title by the narrowest of margins  ),
but just look at some of these other class battles!

Mark Garriott is up only "10pts" on Kenta Sasaki for the MSS top spot! (100 to 90).
Jim Binford has a "7pt" lead on Mark Kinninger for the AR1 title! (77 to 70).
Larry Bevins has a slim "5pt" cushion on William Ripka in the IP class! (135 to 130).
Gary Spoto has a small "5pt" gap as well on Tim Peterson in PSS! (70 to 65).
Steven Pachorek has a tiny "2pt" advantage on John Colwell for the CP crown! (77 to 75).
And of course I have to bring this up . . .
Monte Griffiths has only a "6pt" lead on WT Wong in the infamous X-Class! (115 to 109).

But the battles of battles at the top of this list are my two favorite 944 drivers that have been busting each others (?), (well that doesn't work, but you know what I mean) and are going into the last event of the year in a dead heat at 137pts apiece!
Leigh Rayner and Jackie Corwin!
What Drama!

So I recommend to all to watch these season ending battles at our last points event and cheer on our friends and co-competitors, as this is Damn Exciting Stuff!

Congratulations to all those that have locked up a class title and good luck to all those that are still in the hunt.

And to all that have made this season the complete experience that it has been . . .
I salute you! :beerchug:

P.S. to Jerry Bumpus - Next year I will be on 225's for the full season :banghead:

I agree with CrashBrown. Awesome season!... Awesome October track!... An awesome group of people (including my competitor, Bill, who has been a "gentleman racer" for sure). Nice job autocross team. See you next month for the big finale! I'm bringing some friends, so I better finish well.

The icons below are supposed to represent "end of day celebration" on the 26th.
