The dates in the first post in this thread are now official, so please mark your calendars.
You'll be pleased to know that we are planning to lower prices for 2012 as a result of the excellent participation we had in 2011. Please keep attending!
Correcting an earlier post, 6 of the 8 dates are, or are scheduled to include, DEs. As always, the allocation of run groups at events is a function of demand.
The process of attaining track dates is difficult. There are only so many event-capable weekends in a year. We will not accept dates for consecutive events that are any closer than 3 weeks apart. There is no coordination among the various tracks to divide up dates in an orderly way, nor is there any cooperation among the clubs that use them to make win-win schedules. As a result, we have events that are closer together than we'd like (though in cool weather months, which is valuable) and events on acceptable, but busy weekends that we'd rather have on other dates. I'd still suggest we are fortunate to have an excellent, exciting schedule for 2012.
Spring Mountain is no longer on our calendar primarily because the Club was losing money when we ran there. Of the tracks in our general area it's the furthest away which clearly affected the number of drivers that were willing to travel there, despite the fact that it's a great course. Insurance issues having to do with the fact that the track is a private motorsports club only complicated the situation. If in the future enough demand clearly exists to rent the track without losing money and we can work out insurance issues with track management we'd be more than happy to add it back to the schedule. With a full schedule for 2012, however, the earliest that could potentially occur is 2013.
