It's time to say thanks. This was a big event and it required the efforts of so many people, but as always, this Club pulled together and demonstrated that we can take on the big challenges. First of all, you've got to love the willingness of our Porsche owners to lend us their babies for 4 days. These are some very special cars and there are obvious concerns when you allow your car to be placed in an exhibit hall where a few hundred thousand people are coming through. Thanks to you owners, we were able to put together a very interesting retrospective of 6 decades of Porsche cars in America.
The exhibit was manned (personned?) by club members who answered the public's questions while keeping an ever-vigilant eye out for quick little children who wanted to dash under the ropes and put their chocolate-covered fingers on those beautiful concours Porsches. This event required almost 100 volunteers to work the exhibit area over the holiday weekend. Martha McGowan took on the task of rounding up the necessary volunteer army, and our Club members stepped up and volunteered en masse.
And a few long-time hard-core volunteers were down at the Convention Center every single day: Angela Avitt was signing up new members at the membership table throughout the show, and Skip and Leslie Shirley kept the goodie operating continuously. And coordinating all of this was Keith (aka Kevin) Verlarque. He brings such a level of organization and professionalism that every contingency appeared to be worked out in advance. The entire exhibit was so professional that the public seemed to have trouble believing that this was a Club event and not part of some corporate traveling road show. It all made me proud to be part of this Club.
