Registration for the biggest driving event of the year, Zone 8's California Festival of Speed, on the roval at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana April 20-22, opens March 12 at 9:00 am. Time Trial registration for this event uses MotorsportReg.com this year, but via Zone 8, so you must add Zone 8 as a club on your MotorsportReg.com account. To make it easier, log into your account now at http://www.motorsportreg.com/. Click the My Account tab, Edit My Information, Edit Clubs, Add clubs to account, scroll down to PCA - Zone 8 and click add. Put in your info and click Save Memberships. Once registration is open you will then be able to quickly sign up at http://msreg.us/CFOS12.

In order to register a Porsche for this event, your car must be classified on the Zone's classification website, http://zone8.pca.org/CarClass/Default.aspx. If you don't have your car posted there, be sure to do that now.

Students should sign up as soon as registration opens as Student spots tend to fill up right away at this event. Note that this is not an entry level event, so prerequisites are required. For more general info on the event visit http://www.CalFestival.org.

Thanks to everyone who signed up in the first 24 hours of event registration. This really helps the Festival team plan an even better event. Over 50% of the currently available Student spots are already spoken for. At this pace they will be sold out by sometime tomorrow. If you are thinking of driving at this event and you meet the prerequisites but do not yet have your Zone 8 Solo Permit, now's the time to sign up. I'm posting here only to give SDR drivers a leg up on claiming these spots, as the Festival attracts a lot of drivers from outside SD. Once Student spots are filled you may still register and you will be waitlisted and notified if a space opens up for you. If it doesn't, you will receive a full refund after the event.

Also, Instructors, please sign up soon so we can get an idea of the exact number of Students we can accept. Thank you.
