Help with racing number.

Postby emptyo on Sun Apr 07, 2013 10:19 pm

Hi,

I'm going to be running at Qualcomm on the 21st...my first time with this group. I've always run #86, so I've got my car numbers already. When I got here, I registered with that number (and it let me).

I see there are two other 86's. One is from Orange Coast, and one is Cal Central Coast. Does that mean I can be the sole Socal 86, or do I have to do something else?

Any help welcomed...I'd like to be prepared for the race in 2 weeks.

Hi Michael. I'm part of the AX Registration team. When you signed up for the AX on MotorsportReg it asked you to choose 3 numbers in order of preference, but it does not confirm what number you will have. Our club computer is separate and we will look to see if that number is available and notify you.

Just to let you know, numbers under 100 are often times not available. In addition, the number that is assigned to you will be yours for 2 years, but may be reassigned if you do not continue driving with us.

Also, our numbers are only for San Diego Region AX. If you are going to drive in our San Diego Region TTs, you would need to confirm that your desired number is available with San Diego Region TT Registration.

To further answer your question, the same holds true for the other regions, your number may not be available with them.

We look forward to having you drive with us, and we will be in contact in a few days if your number is available, or if there is an alternative. An AX FAQs will also go out to all new registered Drivers as well.

Hey Jennifer,

Thanks for the reply. That whole process is a bit confusing. Can you tell by the picture I posted if the number I chose will be available for me? I don't know that I chose three numbers since it already showed in the computer that I'd gotten 86. Sorry...I am just confused about the whole process.

Yes, it is all confusing driving with a different club. But, you'll have the hang of it soon. The photo you posted is of the Zone 8 Car Classification Listing. This is where all Drivers must classify their cars according to the 2013 Classification Rules. It is not the Driving Event Registration site.

You have signed up for the AX via MotorsportReg - an event registration service we pay for to simplify the process since our Club is run by Volunteers. Then, we have separate San Diego Region club computers for AX and TT which we download all the registered people to - as well as using it for the timing computer.

So, the only way to confirm if your number is available with PCASDR, (no matter if you were able to list it on the Classification Website), is through that regional club computer. We will be firing it up in the next few days to start answering questions like these.

I will email you soon with an definite answer.
