PCA team gets 2nd place in 4 hour karting enduro!

Postby Tim Comeau on Sun Jan 23, 2005 6:02 pm

WOW! Congrats on a middle of the podium finish!
It was so exciting to watch. At the end our guys were less than 1 minute behind....after 4 hours! Spins, a black flag stop 'n go penalty, traffic, fatigue all contributed to a very close finish!
The PCA team consisted of:
Jad Duncan
Ralph Linares
Jeff Grow
Scott?
Jad was put in the car for the last and longest stint and really did an impressive job of reeling in the competition. He set the fastest lap of the team AND OF THE DAY during his second and last stint. At the same time, strangely enough, bad things kept happening to the other guys, which helped again and again to erase their lead. But, he had a very big hill to climb and ultimately, the team just ran out of time.
Really nice job, all you guys.
Not bad for a bunch of parking lot racers! :D

Nice job! Looks like you picked up some spots from the last event. I'm curious if any of you felt like a top like I did until you figured out how the carts turned. Very different than a car.

Sorry I missed it. Jad is really fast in those things! Did you improve your time from last event Jad?

I really improved my time, got a 36.6 which is about 10 seconds faster!!! of course, they changed the course which 'may' have had something to do with it

I am planning on going to the next one on Feb 19? If we work on our pit work, I know we can have a winning team.

Our team did over 350 laps, so this top is ready to relax in a hot tub again today!

I'd like to do the next one too. I've got to decide if I'll do that or a 3 hour Porsche enduro at Thunderhill for the West Coast Endurance Racing Championship. Where's that cash sponsor?

I remeber them saying something about a discount to repeat customers. I couldn't find anything on their website. Do you know if it's true?

I think if you get a repeat team, one drives for free, so effectively $150 per person. I don't think the team has to be the same, but everyone on the team must have driven before. So, if you join Tim and I, we will have all driven before and should get the discount. Come on out on the 19th! Once I know the team, I can confirm all of this.

Use of the PCA name, etc.

Postby Dan Chambers on Fri Jan 28, 2005 9:55 am

Hey guys:

Just to let you know, the members of the Board, and the Insurance Chair are sending polite e-mails regarding private and personal events manned with PCA members. There is some concern about the "perceived endorsment" of this, and other events involving PCA members by the PCA-SDR.

When posting on the Forum, and in other "public" viewing places, it's probably prudent to mention that this is a non-sanctioned, non-endorsed event with Club members meeting under a casual condition or situation. As an example, Tim's post read "PCA Team" in the subject. Although the drivers were members of PCA-SDR, the team was not officially endorsed, recognized, or affilliated with PCASDR directly. For insurance reasons, this is really important.

This may sound a bit overly prudent, however, to ensure absolute clarity of separation of personal events from offically sanctioned events, be sure to mention clearly that this is not a PCA-SDR function.

If you have any question, give me a call, or drop me an e-mail.

Thanks, guys .... and great job driving during your private event.

I completely agree with Dan. In this litigious society in which we live, we can never be too careful.

I am hoping you actually meant rapier-like wit, but either way you are covered legally.

No Greg, it was intentional and you might have been the only one that caught it. It is a movieline from somewhere, "I will wow her with my rapist-wit..."

I hate to admit I know this, but... if it's the movie I am thinking of it's actually "Tell her I'm good-looking and I'm rich and I have a rapist's wit"

Feb 19th is the next event for Arrive and Drive Karting in El Cajon. This is not a Porsche Club event blah blah blah. My Primary Care Associates team (Team PCA  ) needs drivers. It would be fun if we could get two teams of 4.

Let me know if you have questions, or go to www.arriveanddrive.com If you fax me the application (858-314-0100 no cover needed) or let me know you definitely want to do it, I will arrange the team ('s) so we get the discounted rate.
