Unless the weather forecast is for a 3+ day "monsoon" with our event right in the middle, we will make the decision the morning of the event - at the stadium.
If we declare a rain-out before 9am (or is that 8am?) we can get our money back from the stadium and the event doesn't count. If we rain-out after that, no-shows get 0 points for the event and those who show up get 5 points.
As Martin notes, I think EVERY rain-out call made the day before has been arguably a bad call - it seems that the next day is usually drivable.
The forecasts indicate that the afternoon could be dry, so we could still have practice runs in light rain/drizzle, and then have timed runs in dry conditions. We have often had rain-outs and just used the day for practice runs in the rain, which is interesting and can be a lot of fun.
