The little Red beast turned a 1:26.13 and 1:26.18 with me driving and a 1:27.30 with Leslie. Good times for a car with suspension, cold air intake, smog legal exhaust (stock cat), lighter seats, and battery.
During the first break, I changed all the springs and the front shocks to do some off-season testing. Seemed to help, as the car picked up about 1.5 seconds. Some is attributable to track knowledge, but definitely got at least 1/2 second faster (an eternity in a nationally competitive car).
The 1995 E36 M3 of Ted Drcar was turning 1:27s on Kumho MXs with him driving. I spent a full day at California Speedway dialing this car in a month ago and many partial days prior and probably went through 25 iterations of changes on the 1 day and many more on prior days. Anyway, that car on 710s with me driving would easily have run 1:23s. Shocks, springs, exhaust, intake and seats have been changed (same class rules as the Civic).
I ran a nice 993TT convertible with cool new double adjustable JRZs (Jae RS specials) and did a little tuning. Took the car from a 1:25 to a 1:23 in a few laps. Those shocks felt great and with a little more work the car will pick up some more time.
PS,
The GT2 is for sale if anyone knows someone who wants a REALLLY FAST car that just won the SCCA ASP Solo2 National Championship, the SCCA Pro Solo ASP National Championship and the SCCA Pro Solo Finale.
