Fun day at the Q!

Postby Dan Chambers on Tue Jan 17, 2006 9:46 am

Big thanks to Chuck S., Curt Y., and Dave for a fun day at the Q (San Diego's offical "polar cap" for the weekend). Man, was it cold! :?

The track was very challenging; there was a great turn-out (considering there were two events in one day, and the weather looked ominous); and the new A-X team ran a smooth on-time event with lots of seat-time. Way to go A-X Team!

Looking forward to catching the 944Spec cars at the next A-X

Indeed! Even though I choked on my timed runs, I had a great time. This was a FUN track!

Pffft! Of course! Check the results from the last event ..... and bring the best you've got, Marky-Boy! You've got the car, now what else you got? (Oh yea, and if you want to be both competitive, and fair, add 500Lbs to your car to match my 3130-Lbs Water-pushin' bucket  )

Party's on, Spec drivers.

If we have another track like the last one, I'll put a spec car into the top 10! :P
It was a fresh track and great one except for that SCCA style open box turn. We have enough cones, don't we? Give me a left and a right side of the track. Those pointing cones that are laying down make me nervous. I just want to stop and point out to the corner workers that I didn't knock them over!
I thought the best feature of the track was the section of turns coming back towards the trailer.

I kind of liked the open box turn. When I hit it at the right speed and angle, it felt really good to slot back into the next section. :D

Of course, that only happened a few times. :(

I agree about the rhythm section coming back down the hill and into the slalom/finish. That was fast and fun. :D

Dan-O, Dan-O, Dan-O ... you are a glutton for punishment aren't you :P . I believe Jackie's been doing a fine job of kicking 944 butt at the Q but I'd be up for your challenge. I think Tim and Bill might be interested too.

Oh ya, I do have the car and it has a new limited slip too :D . It worked great at WS this weekend, 1:37.58. I can hardly wait to try it in the parking lot.

One more thing Dan, what's up with the excuses already?

Now, now Marky-Boy. You should really check the 2005 stats before you go braggin' in Jackie's behalf. :? she's an awesome driver, and has a great car...... but if you look at the total numbers of times she bested me in '05 8) ............ well..... stats don't lie. As for 2006; we're fresh in the season, but so far, out of 4 spec-racers, only one has nicked my times. Let's hope they can muster some more speed in up-copming events. Surely they could use your help, Mark......... er, maybe.

Regardless of Jackie's outstanding driving in '05, where you been? You can't shame me if you don't show up. So, sit down in the driver's seat, open your eyes, close your "flappin' gums", and DRIVE. Then, after you best my times (if you can....  ), you'll enjoy the liberty of shamin' me. But, you gotta drive to win. 8)

And, Tim............ you got it slightly wrong, Bro. I didn't lose the hair GEL......... I lost the hair - (actually - it's not lost. I know just where it went. :? ).

BTW: how was that 924S/968 rocket? I didn't get a chance to see it in action, Tim. Was it a hoot, or did you guys spend all your time trying to clear the rear-tire smoke from inside the cabin?

I'll miss the the Feb. AX, - going skiing in Tahoe. But I should be rarin' to go at the March 12 event.

The 924S with the 968 engine belongs to one of our newest PCA members, Jim Hicks. The car is pretty fast in a straight line; real healthy. It has a mostly stock soft suspension, but the real limiting factor is the street hard 205 tires on stock 6 inch wheels! It was like ice skating and you could get wheel spin in any turn right now. We're looking for some ABS offset 7 and 8 inch x 15 or 16 wheels for him right now. That's another good reason to check out the PCA classifieds.

Dan-dy,
Yes, I can smack talk AND drive the pants off you so here goes. Okay, by the March AX the spec drivers will not only have more AXs than you, but big track events under our belt as well. We stick together not just because there's safety in numbers... Just because you're co-CDI doesn't exempt you from being beaten on your birthday, does it, Boy? Don't go back to last year's stats, look towards the future, Mr. Positive. Don't make me come into GP to teach you a lesson, okay? By the way, Tim and Mark have my back and Chuck Sharp is a quick study with Chris Benbow schooling him so we take your little challenge, cuz that's how we roll. Enjoy your skiing trip. We'll be ready.

I'm guessing your hair is growing inwards now, Dan, and clogging up your brain?

I looked back at the 2005 autox results and out of the 10 events we had, I can only find 2 where you were faster than Jackie "Ms. 944Spec" Corwin. What was that about "stats don't lie?" :?: :D :?:

You do have the "weight card" to play still, though, I'll give you that. :D
