My New Boxster Spec Racecar

Postby mfoley on Sun Feb 24, 2008 9:25 am

Hey guys I thought you'd like to see my new Boxster Spec Racecar. I had it out at LV last weekend and it ran flawlessly. I want to thank Mark Tyler at Victory Race Paints for an awesome paint job.

Anyone going to Phoenix?

Nice. Boxster spec cars are a tempting proposition because of, from what I understand, lower costs. Approximately how much would a fully prepped car like yours cost, sans fresh paint? (I could probably live with crusty old paint).

Hi Shannon,

It depends on how much you do yourself and what quality you want but I'd say about $28K +/- $5K including the donor.

No kidding. I followed that car for 10 laps trying to get by. I was 1 car ahead of him when his engine blew. A boxster hit the mess and did 3 360's and didn't hit anything and then the 911 spun and hit both walls.

My speedometer read about 132mph at the spot where his engine blew!!!

Yep...we saw it from the pits...my brother came thru behind it and got a little squirrelly. 1 more reason to have a spotter!!!

Wow! From 944Spec to BoxterSpec. Very interesting.... I would guess you like the changes and differences between the two spec-racers?

Very nice looking Boxterspec, BTW.

That's great news Mark. Erik will be a great addition to the series. Let me know if I can help with anything.

The boxters are a couple seconds a lap faster but the real lure is the competition in that class. Many of the best drivers in POC are running this class.Erik raced go-karts in a sealed-motor class for a couple years and we like racing where the playing field is fairly level.

Congrats on your very nice and well done Spec Boxster Mr. Foley. I think this will be a great class. 8)

Looking at your pictures makes it is very tempting to transform my Boxster. It wouldn't take much to transform it into a Spec, since it's more than half way there. :D

I am having too much fun in KI and wouldn't sell the 964, it's too great of a car.

But if I had the time, I would build a Spec Boxster out of my daily driver and still use it as a daily driver.

Thanks for keeping me in mind Kris :D
Too many race cars and so few tires..
I always got Martin's hand-me-downs in the Boxster. Never got to really race it with really good tires. I was too cheap.

But, spec racing sounds great and the car looks really cool. Maybe a group of you could get together and buy one and all race e/o like some of the 944 spec guys are doing. I know - 'it's only $$$$'
