To echo what Martin said and to expand a bit, thank you to everyone that helped with the logistics and execution of what could possibly be a historic day for PCASDR!! We don't know if we'll ever be able to run this event/track again, but if we can't, we can all look back and say PCASDR was the first car club aside from the vintage racers that every got to run this track event and those that drove yesterday can say, "Yup, I was there"!!
Great volunteers from Race Steward Jim Binford up in the "tower" that flew back home from D.C. to help out to Jackie ("I never met a cone that didn't deserve it") Corwin that was pressed into service all day. George AKA Galis that volunteered his services for the day to all the instructors that gave rides to the officers and enlisted men and women that protect our freedom to do these kind of events. As Martin said, we were prepared to give 6 or 7 officers rides yesterday and when life threw us a curve ball, we asked our instructors to step up and got over 100 rides in. Simply Fantantic!!
We started off a little rough, but after the dust settled, it was just an awesome day!! I loved the diversity of the different vehicles that were out there yesterday from what Tom Tweed mentioned in another thread with the NASCAR Cup and Trucks, to the 430 Scuderia, to the twin Corvette ZR-1s, to the Panoz, to the million dollar Porsche 904s and so on and so on!! From the feedback I received yesterday, it was all positive and everyone said they would run it again if given the opportunity.
As we take a break from the track today, some of the instructors will be out at the Coronado Speedfest again Saturday and Sunday to give sailors and spectators rides. Hopefully PCASDR will continue to impress the military and build upon the relationship created by this event/weekend. Stay tuned....
