Fun day at the Q!

A place to hang out and discuss all things Porsche.

Thanks Tom. I didn't even bother to look back. Just like when I see Dan waaaaaaaaaaay back there in my rear view mirror. Hey Dan, gotten any sponsors for your car yet? Did I tell you I picked up East Coast Pizza this year too? Atleast I can keep my posse happy with pizza and beer. Oh that's right. You are all alone in your class this year. I'll bet that hair replacement place is looking for someone, what's that called? "I'm not just a client, I'm a race car driver". Well, maybe you'll get that championship after all.

Thanks for looking up the stats Tom. I trust that your info is correct.

I looked up a couple of my own numbers Dan and two of my five ever autocrosses were in 2005. In each of these autocrosses I beat you by over 1 second! Now correct me if I'm wrong but that seems like an eternity to me  . I guess just for fun I can see if I can beat you consistently by two seconds :D.

Great point, motor-head boy. But explain to me: why a car that weighs 16% less with the same HP/Drive-train, can't beat me by 16%? (So: at 80-seconds your time, I should have been 16% slower ... or 92.8 seconds. OR: at 81.1 seconds - you should have turned a 68.1? Hmmm - not in your life-time!).

Gee: that sounds pretty darn impossible. How 'bout...

5-Lbs = aprox. 1 HP: so 500 Lbs less should be about 100-HP improved over my stock-weighted car? And, if 100-HP is 71% better on 139 HP than stock...... hmmmm that doesn't seem to work either.....

How 'bout 3130 Lbs. @ 139 HP is 22.5 Lbs/HP in my stock-weighted car vs. 18.7 Lbs/HP in a spec car(at 2600-Lbs with driver).....Hmmmm 16.8% advantage in Lbs/HP ratio .....Hmmmmm. Seems to me: if we were equal drivers, Jackie, Mark, Chuck, etc. ...... should be seeing a 12% advantage in best-time results. Well: I can only think of Tim C., Jad, or Steve G, and maybe Chris O'. that can best me by 12 seconds...... but actually it's been only by 1-second or less based on the last "Spec Challange" Tim ran.

You should have put me to bed with at least a 2-second besting, Mark. What happened? Tell ya what: you better my time by 2-seconds or more this year, and I'll make you co-CDI and take lessons from you!

(Or have you forgotten, I was your Instructor at one of your first SDR A-X's in your black turbo?)

Jackie: you talk some good smack there small-fry; and yes, you gave me an adaquate spanking at the last A-X. (BTW: better be careful about comment regarding my pants.... or you'll have to deal with Monica yourself! :nono:)

But, can you continue all year? You want to come over to the "PG" side....? well sure! I could use the company ... and I'll let you walk home with all those red-colored ribbons you want  .

Mark ..... smack talk less - drive more!

Tom: what about the other 944spec-cars? Simply put: I should be beating no one in spec. At 15% to 16% less weight (which equals better HP and Braking) they should all be putting me in the dog-house! All of them.

Tim C.: I think it's time for another Spec Challange. that's where the "rubber meets the road" and the "gum flappin'" stops!

See you guys on the 18th.

Somebody please explain to Dan there isn't a 1 to 1 ratio for weight vs time... Maybe you should stop sniffing the Surf Board wax....

It's so fun to see the waterpumpers smack talking. An enjoyable break from the air vs water cooled debate.

Jackie - Pretty feisty talk, but it looks like you can back it up now that you are a certified 4 wheel drift in turn nine at WSIR veteran.

I am guessing she learned more from the 4 wheel drift I think I saw her do while NOT on turn 9    Leaving turn 9 at Willow is a real learning experience

Dan: are you referring to the weight gained every time you eat?    I know, I know...... it's that whole "metabolism slowing as you get older" thing ...... But don't worry. Social Security will force you to eat 1 less can of Alpo per week.

feitsy talk

Postby Jackie C on Tue Jan 24, 2006 5:15 pm

Jad-
You mean my 180 in 3? Actually that was scarier than the off in 9. Even though I did manage to stay on the track, I scooted off as the cars were coming around that corner pretty quickly. One of the lessons I learned was you can't drive very well on 2 flat spotted tires-even if they were brand new prior to the event. Also, driving to the big track events stink. Need to get my husband to bring out the trailer. The other lesson I learned from Dan (as he was my 1st and best AX driving instructor) was, 1) If you're in a 944, you HAVE to smack talk to defend yourself from the air cooled boys 2)Eating crow doesn't taste as bad as I thought it would.

Hmmm ... sounds like excuses to me Dan. Let me try some of your math. You've done at least 50 autocrosses, right? I've done 5. So my one second advantage should be (50/5 = 10) 10 seconds after I've completed my 50th autocross, right? It's seat time baby!

Oh and about smack talking less and driving more, I think I did about 350 miles last weekend and that didn't include the timed runs :P . How many autocrosses is that anyway?

Hey, I think we've invented a new form of mathematics: "Smack-math!" Has nothing to do with reality! Einstein would be proud!

Mark, Mark, Mark. I don't offer excuses. When I win, I win. When I lose, I lose. Don't misinterpret my interest in leveling the playing field as excuses. When you, or Jackie, or TT, or anyone else serves me up a plate of crow, I eat it.... even though it ain't so tasty. (I was taught: "The strongest warrior is the one who knows his weaknesses.") Having said that, I'll repeat (for the sake of risking debate) what I already said to TT:

"Tom: what about the other 944spec-cars? Simply put: I should be beating no one in spec. At 15% to 16% less weight (which equals better HP and Braking) they should all be putting me in the dog-house! All of them. "

As to your seat time Mark, obviously you aren't getting the point: I'm talking AX in this thread. A-X. That's all I've been talking about. That's short for .... A-U-T-O-C-R-O-S-S.

Your seat time is valuable in big tracks, NASA, etc. .... however; we're talking strictly A-X here. Get it? So, come out and get that 2-second win, become co-CDI, and teach me a lesson. Or, don't come out, and continue to "hide" at the big tracks.......

(Reminds me of the chihuahua that barks and snarls, and bears it's teeth behind the screen door. But.. open the screen door and watch it run away.........   )

Hasta La Vista, Amigo!

Good point, Gary! Maybe I better change my tune.............

As a competitive driver, I stink!! I can't drive myself out of a paper bag. I'm slower than mollassis rolling uphill, in the winter, in Minnisota  . I'm just not worthy............ -> 911T, 944Spec

Okay, now I feel more centered. :beerchug:
