Great AX

Postby Jackie C on Mon Jul 23, 2007 7:59 am

What a great day! Hats off the Jennifer and Christy, my idols. I was thrilled to be in the top 10 BRI, but can't imagine driving good enough to EVER be in the top 10. Drinking beer by 5pm was a nice change too. Everything seems to flow so smoothly yesterday. Let's do that again in 2 weeks!

... although most of us got Chicked by 3 - Jackie Corwin was in 18th overall and 10th in the BRI. :D

Austin Smith was really driving out there - he tied Jad for 5th TTOD. Clark better watch out - we may have another father-son shootout coming up.

Thanks for the day and the great track AX team! The straight was scary fun. I wasn't able to look at the speedo but thought about 85 mph? Thanks to my husband Martin for those shiny new tires. They aren't so new now.

Good job Jackie, Christy and Everybody!

Geez, what kind of a class am I in :?: Bill is laughing at me and saying my excuses better be good for getting the 5th TTOD?????

Actually I have decided to go with an old standby, the RA-1s that are on the car have done every AX since February, Fontana TT for my dad, Fontana TT and Club race and Pahrump TT for both my dad and I. I think they are about done  I will miss them.

Was that good enough Bill, or would you like others. I am very good at excuses, probably top 3 BRI behind Dan A and Curt

PS Nice driving Jennifer, I was getting pretty nervous....

Another great job by the AX team. The track layout was fast and fun, the run groups went through really fast and everyone got plenty of laps. I even didn't mind getting chicked.

If I was a better driver, it would have been perfect.

That was a great track and a great time had by all. I would like to say I scared all the competition away but there was some noise about a parade volunteer party going late and some kid turning 20. I did miss having Dan and the Young's out there. Didn't even take my seat out this time and had a student most runs... and it was much colder when red ran at the end of the day and I lost my concentration after the long 9 run group wait...Did I mention the tires are just about done and I had to change CD's in the slalom?

Wow, Steve, for someone who took first place in class, you offer up a lot of excuses. Was the sun in your eyes, too? Did you trip over your laces? Did the car take a bad hop? Wonder what you'd have to say if you took 2nd place?

Yes, I'm very sorry to have missed the event. The track looked really fun on paper. If it was indeed as fast as it looked, you guys must have been cookin'.

I had no brakes from the DE (the new pads are on order), and although I don't usually use the brake pedal, I wanted to have an excuse for nursing a hang-over. So .... yeah .... bad brakes ..... that's the ticket. (Truth be told .... Steve toally intimidated me from competing. :? )

Well Dan nobody is buying the intimidation ploy... especially not me.
The track was much faster than it looked on paper which had me wishing for better P:W ratio like you other IS guys have got. That straight was really long!
My excuses are because I didn't beat my targets of GP/944 spec and KS. I really thought there was a 67.?? out there for me, but the car was much looser this time than last.

I was working the far corner and got to watch most of the specs as well as Christy's 911 and the 968's go through the back section and it was impressive!

Hopefully I will be able to make the next one, it's about 50/50 at this point.

Wait a moment Steve. When I complained about my car being loose you told me you couldn't have a 911 that was to loose.

No, I think I said you couldn't have a 911 that was too loose...
I am constantly trying to find more grip...

I think re-valving the shocks and a new set of RA-1's will do the trick...
But that will not be until October or so...

  Sounds like IS Class hasn't seen the last of Mr. Grosekemper.

   First, Tom Tweed in G class, Now Steve G. in IS Class :x. I gotta find a class that isn't lead by a ringer (either "Mr. Top BRI Excelsior" or "Mr. TTOD Excelsior").

Wonder if the blue 912 in the garage is ready for a resurrection to AS Class?

Sounds like the track was a dream for the "Engine-up-front-where-it-belongs" drivers. Greg P., what's your take?

Dan, If you want to blame someone, blame yourself...
If all you IS guys weren't such good drivers I wouldn't feel compelled to come out and be challenged...

AS, you say?
Hmmm, I think I can find a 1.8L 914 to challenge you with Dan... 8)

Hey Dan,

Why don't you get a KI car, then you might just get beat by:

Martin,
Bill,
Bob,
Kris,
Tom,
myself

AND also get chicked by

Tami and Jennifer

to finish 9th in class, while possibly making the top ten times of the day

Then you wouldn't be whinning about losing to Steve and Tom

Although there was a nice long straight on the backside, there was a lot of twisty sections in the front along with a tight slalom to keep us wide cars slowed down :?
My time was OK but it was still more about stick than horsepower as Jad's 4th place shows
